Preview Roundups
December 10, 2019
Tampa Bay at Florida 7:00 PM ET
The Florida Panthers have won three of the first four contests on their season-high, nine-game homestand and begin a challenging week with a matchup against the rival Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night. The Panthers, who play the New York Islanders and Boston later in the week, gave up one goal each in victories over Columbus (Saturday) and San Jose (Sunday) last weekend.
Montreal at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
It's impossible to replace a player of the caliber of superstar Sidney Crosby -- but having Evgeni Malkin in the fold certainly does help ease the loss. Malkin is on the verge of a major career milestone for the surging Pittsburgh Penguins, who will go for their fourth consecutive victory against the visiting Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night.
St. Louis at Buffalo 7:30 PM ET
Buffalo Sabres captain Jack Eichel is in the midst of the hottest stretch of his professional career. The 23-year-old Eichel carries a personal-best 13-game point streak (10 goals, 13 assists) into Tuesday's contest against the visiting St. Louis Blues.
San Jose at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
The Nashville Predators are starting to play better at home while the San Jose Sharks have struggled mightily during the first three contests of their four-game road trip. The Predators look to continue their strong play at Bridgestone Arena on Tuesday when they host the Sharks.
Anaheim at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild have managed to regain their equilibrium after an ugly start to the season, overcoming a brutal schedule in which they played 20 of their first 30 games on the road. The Wild will kick off their longest homestand of the season thus far when they play the first of three against the struggling Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night.
Detroit at Winnipeg 8:00 PM ET
Mark Scheifele was the Winnipeg Jets’ first draft pick after the franchise relocated from Atlanta in 2011, and their long-time center continues sparking his team’s run of recent success entering Tuesday’s home contest with the Detroit Red Wings. Scheifele recorded his 400th career point at a critical time Sunday, scoring from the slot with 4:22 to play to lift Winnipeg past Anaheim 3-2 and give the Jets a 12-3-2 record since Nov. 1.
New Jersey at Dallas 8:30 PM ET
The Dallas Stars are experiencing a power surge as they host the struggling New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. Dallas scored twice with the man advantage in each of its last two contests - a 3-2 overtime victory over Winnipeg to start the four-game homestand and a 3-1 win over the New York Islanders on Saturday - after going 1-for-8 during a four-game slide (0-3-1).
Carolina at Edmonton 9:00 PM ET
The Carolina Hurricanes earned two satisfying victories on a quick homestand and look to carry that momentum on the road as they begin a challenging five-game trip Tuesday night against the Edmonton Oilers. The Hurricanes grinded out a 3-2 shootout victory over San Jose on Thursday before getting a hat trick and a career-high five points from Sebastian Aho en route to a 6-2 rout of Minnesota two days later.
Calgary at Arizona 9:00 PM ET
The Calgary Flames have won five consecutive games since coach Geoff Ward took over but face a stern test Tuesday when they host the first-place Arizona Coyotes and their league-best defense. Arizona, which is tied with Edmonton atop the Pacific Division, surrenders the fewest goals in the NHL at 2.28 per game, while Calgary has averaged 3.8 during its winning streak - up from 2.37 when Ward took over.
Toronto at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
The Toronto Maple Leafs continue their four-game road trip Tuesday when they face the Vancouver Canucks, who are looking for their third straight victory on home ice. Toronto will have to keep the potent Canucks' power-play at bay as Vancouver leads the NHL with 31 goals with the man advantage while the Maple Leafs have given up 23 short-handed goals - tied for fifth-most in the league.
Chicago at Vegas 10:00 PM ET
The magic at T-Mobile Arena appears to have worn off in the third season for the Vegas Golden Knights, who are treading water on their home ice with a 7-6-3 mark. The Golden Knights, who dipped from 29 wins in their expansion season at T-Mobile to 24 in 2018-19, look to avenge last month's home loss to Chicago when the Blackhawks visit on Tuesday night.
NY Rangers at Los Angeles 10:30 PM ET
The New York Rangers are making headway away from home, winning three in a row on the road while piecing together a five-game point streak (4-0-1) outside of Madison Square Garden. The Rangers aim to continue their recent success on the road Tuesday when they visit the Los Angeles Kings.
