Preview Roundups
November 27, 2019
Calgary at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
The Calgary Flames are reeling on the ice with one win in their last eight games and now are embroiled in a major controversy off the ice. Coach Bill Peters is facing accusations of directing racial slurs toward a player when he was coaching in the minors and will not be behind the bench when the Flames visit the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night.
Boston at Ottawa 7:00 PM ET
The Boston Bruins experienced a bit of a lull after a red-hot start and are beginning to warm up again with four consecutive victories as they complete a two-game trip with a matchup against the improving Ottawa Senators on Wednesday. The Bruins went 1-2-3 after beginning the season 11-1-2, but posted 21 goals during their current winning streak after rolling to an 8-1 victory at Montreal on Tuesday, and have won nine in a row against Ottawa.
Toronto at Detroit 7:00 PM ET
A change behind the bench appears to have stemmed the tailspin of the Toronto Maple Leafs, who were mired in a six-game losing streak when coach Mike Babcock was dismissed last Wednesday. The Maple Leafs responded by winning two in a row under Sheldon Keefe and look to sustain the momentum when they visit the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday night.
St. Louis at Tampa Bay 7:00 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning are beginning to resemble the team that matched an NHL record with 62 wins last season and their form will be severely tested over the next two games, starting with a matchup against the visiting St. Louis Blues on Wednesday night. The Lightning, who visit Washington on Friday, have won three in a row and six of their last eight contests after knocking off Buffalo 5-2 on Monday.
Carolina at NY Rangers 7:00 PM ET
The Carolina Hurricanes are back on track since dropping four in a row earlier this month, winning two straight and six of seven as they prepare for another matchup against one of their biggest nemesis. The Hurricanes will be seeking to avenge a 4-2 home loss to the New York Rangers on Nov. 7 when they visit Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.
Vancouver at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
In the midst of a season-long six game road trip that spans three time zones over the course of 12 days, the Vancouver Canucks couldn’t get their legs under them as they seemed to run out of gas during a 2-1 loss in Philadelphia on Monday. With a pair of wins, a pair of losses and a pair of games remaining on their road trip, the Canucks will head to Pittsburgh on Wednesday to take on the Penguins.
Florida at Washington 7:00 PM ET
The Washington Capitals look to snap out of a mini-scoring slump and avoid matching a season-high losing streak when they host the Florida Panthers on Wednesday night. The Capitals, who lead the league in points (37), managed two goals while losing the last two games and have not been quite was dominant at home (6-2-4) as on the road (10-2-1).
Philadelphia at Columbus 7:00 PM ET
Jakub Voracek has found his scoring touch since being paired on a line with Sean Couturier and Oskar Lindblom. Voracek answered a goal drought that spanned a dozen games by scoring in each of his last two heading into the Philadelphia Flyers' road contest against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday.
Vegas at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
The Nashville Predators have answered a disastrous season-high six-game winless skid (0-5-1) by emerging victorious in both ends of a home-and-home series against the reigning Stanley Cup champions. The Predators hope to feed off that momentum on Wednesday when the Vegas Golden Knights pay a visit to Music City.
Anaheim at Arizona 9:30 PM ET
The Anaheim Ducks are 2-5-3 in their last 10 games with the victories coming against the defending Stanley Cup champion and a club that was riding a 17-game point streak. Anaheim tries to make up more ground in the crowded Pacific when it visits the division rival Arizona Coyotes on Wednesday.
Edmonton at Colorado 10:00 PM ET
The Colorado Avalanche have already felt the wrath of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl - the Edmonton Oilers' dynamic duo - this season, and it didn't go well when the league's point leaders combined for 11. Colorado gets another crack at slowing down the tandem when it hosts Pacific Division leader Edmonton on Wednesday.
NY Islanders at Los Angeles 10:30 PM ET
The New York Islanders have not enjoyed the first two legs of their trek through California, dropping an overtime decision over the weekend before seeing their franchise-record 17-game point streak (15-0-2) come to a halt in their next contest. The Islanders aim to get back on track Wednesday when they visit the Los Angeles Kings.
Winnipeg at San Jose 10:30 PM ET
Patrick Marleau returned to San Jose after two seasons in Toronto, and the 40-year-old forward sparked the Sharks to their ninth victory in 10 games entering Wednesday’s home contest against the Winnipeg Jets with a game-winning goal in overtime Monday at Los Angeles. Marleau’s fifth goal of the season and 556th of his career saved San Jose after the Sharks blew a 3-0 lead in regulation, and gave the 22-year veteran his 99th career game-winning goal in a Sharks uniform.
