Preview Roundups
November 19, 2019
Minnesota at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
The Buffalo Sabres are trying to rediscover the form that won them nine of their first 12 games this season as they host the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday. Buffalo has lost seven of its last eight games (1-5-2) after a 4-1 setback at Chicago on Sunday with the only victory during that stretch coming Saturday, when Jack Eichel scored four goals in a 4-2 victory over Ottawa.
Philadelphia at Florida 7:00 PM ET
Sergei Bobrovsky has flustered the Philadelphia Flyers ever since the team traded away the goaltender after two seasons in June 2012. Although Bobrovsky has changed uniforms again, the two-time Vezina Trophy recipient hopes to keep the Flyers under his thumb on Tuesday when Florida Panthers host Philadelphia in Sunrise, Fla.
Boston at New Jersey 7:00 PM ET
The Boston Bruins got off to a blistering start in their bid to return to the Stanley Cup Finals, but they have cooled off with only one victory in their last six games. The Bruins still have earned points in four straight games (1-0-3), courtesy of three shootout losses, entering Tuesday night's matchup against the host New Jersey Devils.
NY Islanders at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
The New York Islanders have run roughshod through their schedule over the last month, with one contest providing the lone blemish on their 14-game point streak (13-0-1). The Islanders aim to avenge an overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins and match a franchise-best point streak on Tuesday when they visit the Steel City for the opener of a home-and-home series.
Montreal at Columbus 7:00 PM ET
The Montreal Canadiens have enjoyed plenty of highs in their surprising start, beating reigning Stanley Cup champion St. Louis twice and ending Washington's 13-game point streak on Friday. The latter victory, however, came at a cost for Montreal, which will be without two key players when they visit the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night.
Ottawa at Detroit 7:30 PM ET
The Detroit Red Wings are beginning to dig themselves out of a hole they fell into during a stretch of 12 losses in 13 games and look to continue moving forward when the improving Ottawa Senators visit Tuesday night. The Red Wings have at least a point in five straight games (3-0-2) after going 1-0-2 on their trip to California last week, capped by a 4-3 shootout setback at San Jose on Saturday.
Tampa Bay at St. Louis 8:00 PM ET
The reigning Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues have cooled off after a seven-game winning streak and look to get back on track when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night. The Blues are 0-1-2 in their past three games after suffering a 4-1 setback against visiting Anaheim on Saturday as they went 0-for-4 on the power play and could not get a positive result despite a 38-25 edge in shots.
Winnipeg at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
Playing away from home and battling in close games has generated a winning formula so far for the Winnipeg Jets, who appear to have shaken off a sluggish start entering Tuesday’s contest at the Nashville Predators. The Jets have won the first two games of their current four-game road swing, a 4-3 victory Saturday at Tampa Bay pushing Winnipeg’s mark in road contests to 7-3-0 on the season and its record in one-goal games to 9-1-1.
Carolina at Chicago 8:30 PM ET
The Chicago Blackhawks are suddenly on a roll after an uneven start to the season and will be tested over a difficult eight-game stretch that begins against the visiting Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night. The Blackhawks have won four games in a row and earned at least a point in six straight (5-0-1) after knocking off Buffalo 4-1 on Sunday with a pair of goals from 18-year-old forward Kirby Dach.
Vancouver at Dallas 8:30 PM ET
Teams heading in opposite directions take to the ice Tuesday as the slumping Vancouver Canucks begin a season-high six game road trip against the surging Dallas Stars. The script has been flipped for both clubs as the Stars managed one victory in their first nine games of the season (1-7-1) before winning 10 of their last 12 (10-1-1) while the Canucks are looking to remain in the playoff hunt after entering November 8-3-1 but going 1-4-2 in their past seven.
Colorado at Calgary 9:00 PM ET
Colorado has endured enough big-ticket injuries to cripple most teams but Nathan MacKinnon and defenseman Cale Makar are keeping the Avalanche from sliding too far. Colorado tries for its sixth straight victory over Calgary, including playoffs, when it visits the Flames on Tuesday after winning four of its last five games without its No. 1 goaltender and two elite forwards.
Toronto at Vegas 10:00 PM ET
The Toronto Maple Leafs aim to follow the lead of the Golden Knights and snap a five-game losing streak on Tuesday when the struggling teams meet at T-Mobile Arena. The Maple Leafs' troubles began after their 2-1 overtime victory over the Golden Knights on Nov. 7, which ignited Vegas' franchise high-tying five-game skid (0-4-1) that was halted Sunday.
Edmonton at San Jose 10:30 PM ET
The San Jose Sharks are one of the hottest teams in hockey but are still stuck near the bottom of the Pacific Division as they try to overcome a dreadful start to the season. The Sharks vie for their seventh consecutive victory and look to beat the division-leading Edmonton Oilers for the second time in a week Tuesday night in San Jose.
