Preview Roundups
February 02, 2019
Oklahoma at West Virginia 12:00 PM ET
After enduring its worst home defeat in conference play since 1963, Oklahoma will look to get back on track Saturday as it visits a struggling West Virginia team. The Sooners had no answers for Baylor’s zone defense in a 77-47 setback on Monday as they were held to season lows in scoring and field-goal percentage (.269).
Rutgers at Ohio St. 12:00 PM ET
With a win over Ohio State last month and an upset of Indiana on Wednesday night, Rutgers brings some momentum and a three-game win streak into Saturday's Big Ten matchup at Value City Arena. Just the opposite is true for sputtering Ohio State, which has lost six of seven conference games since Jan. 5.
St. John's at Duke 12:00 PM ET
It's been a while since Duke's semi-regular matchup with St. John's has been meaningful for both squads and their postseason aspirations, but that hasn't kept the Red Storm from occasionally being a thorn in the side of the Blue Devils. No. 2 Duke will try to avenge last year's shocking loss to St. John's and do a better job of bottling up Shamorie Ponds this time around when they host the Red Storm on Saturday.
Georgia Tech at Florida State 12:00 PM ET
Dropping back-to-back road games cost Florida State its top 25 national ranking, but the Seminoles have returned to form thanks to strong 3-point shooting in winning two in a row entering Saturday’s home contest against Georgia Tech. Following losses at Pittsburgh and Boston College, the Seminoles hit a combined 22 shots from long range in back-to-back victories over Clemson and Miami, pulling within one game of .500 in ACC play.
Virginia Tech at NC State 12:00 PM ET

No. 11 Virginia Tech could be without star guard Justin Robinson when it visits 22nd-ranked North Carolina State on Saturday for a key ACC matchup. The Wolfpack have won three straight home meetings with the Hokies.

Seton Hall at Butler 12:00 PM ET
Butler and Seton Hall, part of the muddled mess in the middle of the Big East standings, meet for the second time in less than a month Saturday at Hinkle Fieldhouse in an FS1 All-Access game during which both coaches will be live-mic'd for the entire game. The Bulldogs and Pirates are among eight conference teams with three or four wins.
Memphis at South Florida 12:00 PM ET
South Florida looks to continue its climb in the top half of the American Athletic Conference with a third straight victory when road-challenged Memphis pays a visit on Saturday afternoon. The Bulls, who have already won their most contests (14) since 2011-12, answered a three-game losing streak by beating Wichita State on Tuesday before rolling to a 77-57 win at East Carolina last Saturday.
South Carolina at Georgia 1:00 PM ET
South Carolina heads to Georgia on Saturday in a matchup of two teams who have each split their opening 20 games of the season, but the similarities end when looking at SEC play. The Gamecocks won five of their opening six conference games this season and, even with Tuesday’s loss to top-ranked Tennessee, sit just two games out of first place in the league, while the Bulldogs have won just once in SEC action and sit in a three-way logjam for 11th.
North Carolina at Louisville 2:00 PM ET
Two of the ACC’s best do battle on Saturday afternoon as No. 10 North Carolina visits No. 16 Louisville. The Tar Heels will be looking for revenge after the Cardinals stunned them with a dominating 83-62 win in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Jan. 12.
Miami-Florida at Virginia 2:00 PM ET

Miami finishes off its grueling stretch of games against ranked foes - its fourth in the last five games - when it visits No. 3 Virginia on Saturday. The Hurricanes have lost four in a row after falling to No. 12 Virginia Tech on Wednesday and now they face a Cavaliers team that needs just one victory to extend its school record for consecutive 20-win seasons to eight.

Notre Dame at Boston College 2:00 PM ET
Two of the ACC’s basement dwellers look for something positive to build off of Saturday afternoon as Notre Dame visits Boston College for the second meeting this season between these two teams. The Fighting Irish earned their only conference victory so far this season with a home win over the Eagles on Jan. 12.
Texas at Iowa State 2:00 PM ET
No. 20 Iowa State looks to solidify its place in the national rankings while staying in the hunt for the Big 12 title when it hosts Texas on Saturday. The Cyclones, who have won four of their last five games, including back-to-back victories against Mississippi (87-73) and West Virginia (93-68) in the last week, are one of five teams with five wins at the top of the conference standings.
Tulsa at Wichita St. 2:00 PM ET
Two teams that just ended three-game losing streaks will battle Saturday, when Tulsa visits Wichita State for the first Havoc in the Heartland contest of the season. The most important of Shockers guard Samajae Haynes-Jones’ team-high 17 points on Wednesday were his last two, as they came with less than one second remaining in regulation and lifted the team to an 85-83 triumph over SMU.
Nebraska at Illinois 2:15 PM ET
Nebraska looks to put a disappointing January in the rearview mirror when it visits Illinois on Saturday. The Cornhuskers have dropped four straight games, including a 62-51 loss to 23rd-ranked Wisconsin on Tuesday, en route to a 2-6 record in January.
Providence at DePaul 2:30 PM ET
Femi Olujobi will look to maintain the hot hand Saturday when DePaul hosts Providence in a Big East game. The senior from Long Island, N.Y., has averaged 20.2 points over the last six games for the Blue Demons, who will be facing the Friars for the second time in seven days.
Mississippi State at Mississippi 3:30 PM ET
Mississippi State will have revenge on its mind when it visits Ole Miss on Saturday, but the No. 21 Bulldogs will likely do so without one of their key cogs. Sophomore guard Nick Weatherspoon suffered a knee injury after landing awkwardly following a dunk attempt during Tuesday's 83-79 loss at Alabama but an MRI taken Wednesday revealed no structural damage or tear.
Kentucky at Florida 4:00 PM ET
Florida did what it needed to do Wednesday, defeating Ole Miss to get a resume-worthy win before heading into a brutal stretch that begins with Saturday's home meeting with No. 6 Kentucky. The Wildcats have won seven in a row, including three straight against ranked opponents, and are coming off an 87-52 rout of Vanderbilt that was their largest road win of the John Calipari era.
Texas Tech at Kansas 4:00 PM ET
Playing on the road has proven quite difficult for No. 12 Kansas this season. Fortunately, the Jayhawks return home Saturday to seek an 18th win in 19 tries in Lawrence against No. 15 Texas Tech, a team looking for a third straight victory and perhaps the balance coach Chris Beard has been seeking.
UCLA at Washington 4:00 PM ET
Off to its best start in conference play since the 1952-53 season, Washington brings a 10-game winning streak into Saturday’s matchup against visiting UCLA. The Huskies have not allowed a team to score more than 70 points during their win streak but will be tested by the Bruins, who are averaging a league-high 82.5 points during Pac-12 play.
Oregon St. at Utah 5:00 PM ET

Utah failed to protect a 14-point first-half lead Thursday and saw its season-high four-game win streak come to an end in a loss to visiting Oregon. The Runnin’ Utes will now try to bounce back Saturday as they host Oregon State.

Arkansas at Louisiana State 6:00 PM ET
It will be Daniel Gafford-Naz Reid II when Arkansas visits No. 19 LSU on Saturday for an SEC game. The two young big men, both projected NBA first round picks, put on a show in the first meeting between the Razorbacks and Tigers on Jan. 12, combining for 59 points.
Indiana at Michigan St 6:00 PM ET
Michigan State looks to bounce back from its first loss since November when it hosts Big Ten rival Indiana on Saturday night. The eighth-ranked Spartans fell to Purdue 73-63 last Sunday, ending their 13-game winning streak, while the Hoosiers enter the contest on a seven-game losing streak and coming off a 66-58 loss to Rutgers on Wednesday.
Kansas State at Oklahoma State 6:00 PM ET
The hottest team in Big 12 play has had a week to forget about a loss to a middling SEC opponent and re-focus on its next league foe. Kansas State seeks its first six-game conference winning streak in nearly six years when it travels to play Oklahoma State on Saturday.
Syracuse at Pittsburgh 6:00 PM ET
Syracuse has split the first two games of its three-game road trip, which concludes Saturday with a matchup against Pittsburgh. The teams met in the Carrier Dome last month with the Orange emerging with a 74-63 win behind Tyus Battle's 22 points.
Temple at Tulane 6:00 PM ET
Temple's two-game road trip runs the full spectrum of American Athletic Conference opponents. After facing first-place Houston on Thursday, the Owls' trek continues against last-place Tulane on Saturday.
Boise St. at Nevada 6:00 PM ET
Seventh-ranked Nevada has rolled off six consecutive victories since suffering a shockingly loss at New Mexico. The Wolf Pack, who own a one-game lead in their quest to garner a third straight outright Mountain West regular-season championship, put a 13-game home winning streak on the line Saturday afternoon when they host Boise State.
Southern California at Washington St. 7:00 PM ET
The road hasn't been kind to USC which finds itself in a four-way tie for third place in the Pac-12 after Wednesday night's loss at first place Washington. The Trojans, who are still in search of their first true road win of the season, get a good chance to end that drought Saturday when they visit struggling Washington State.
Alabama at Auburn 8:00 PM ET
Alabama knocked off three ranked teams last month and looks to start February in style with a road victory against state-rival Auburn on Saturday night in an important crossroads SEC contest. The Crimson Tide beat No. 6 Kentucky and then-ranked Ole Miss before taking a double-digit lead and holding on for an 83-79 victory over 21st-ranked Mississippi State on Tuesday.
Tennessee at Texas A&M 8:00 PM ET
Admiral Schofield is enjoying the finest season of his college career in 2018-19, but he still felt the need to apologize to his teammates prior to Tennessee's last game for his recent lack of production. The 6-6 senior flipped the script with his best game in over two months earlier this week, and he'll try to be a key reason the top-ranked Volunteers set a program record Saturday when they visit Texas A&M.
San Diego at Gonzaga 8:00 PM ET
Fourth-ranked Gonzaga is regularly stomping opponents and aims to post its 12th straight win when it hosts San Diego in West Coast Conference play on Saturday. The Bulldogs have prevailed by an average of 35.6 points during their 11-game winning streak, including eight victories by 30 or more points.
Texas Christian at Baylor 8:00 PM ET
Baylor looks to avenge an earlier loss to TCU and extend its winning streak to six games when the teams meet in Waco on Saturday. Baylor opened Big 12 play with an 85-81 loss to TCU but has used a balanced attack to move into a first-place tie in the conference.
Southern Methodist at Cincinnati 8:00 PM ET
Cincinnati goes for a seventh straight victory when it hosts American Athletic Conference rival SMU in a Saturday night contest. The Bearcats have had a few days off since their last contest, a 72-68 victory at Temple last Sunday, while the Mustangs have dropped three of four - including an 85-83 decision at Wichita State on Wednesday.
Vanderbilt at Missouri 8:30 PM ET

Two teams trying to climb from the bottom of the SEC standings square off Saturday, when Missouri hosts Vanderbilt. The Tigers have dropped three straight and six of their first seven conference games, while the Commodores are in the midst of an eight-game skid and the only winless team in SEC play.

Oregon at Colorado 9:30 PM ET

Oregon has suffered some difficult Pac-12 home losses, but the Ducks have found ways to get a couple of wins back on the road. They now have their sights on another one Saturday night when they visit struggling Colorado.
