September 24, 2019
Philadelphia at Washington 1:05 PM ET
The Washington Nationals are strengthening their grasp on a potential postseason berth at the expense of a familiar face in Bryce Harper and the Philadelphia Phillies. Washington (86-69) conceivably can punch its ticket to the playoffs and eliminate Philadelphia (79-76) from postseason consideration on Tuesday when the National League East rivals play a doubleheader at Nationals Park.
Milwaukee at Cincinnati 6:40 PM ET
The red-hot Milwaukee Brewers continue their push toward the National League playoffs with a season-ending six-game road trip, beginning with the first of three at the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday. The Brewers completed their home slate with a 6-1 homestand capped by Sunday's 4-3 victory over Pittsburgh, and are four games clear of Chicago for the final wild-card spot and 3 1/2 behind NL Central-leading St. Louis.
Minnesota at Detroit 6:40 PM ET
Nelson Cruz looks to continue his power surge as the Minnesota Twins try moving closer to clinching the American League Central title when they visit the major league-worst Detroit Tigers for the opener of a three-game series Tuesday night. Cruz was 7-for-15 with three homers and eight RBIs in the four-game series against Kansas City over the weekend and went deep for the 400th time in his career Sunday in a 12-8 win at home.
Philadelphia at Washington 7:05 PM ET
The Washington Nationals are strengthening their grasp on a potential postseason berth at the expense of a familiar face in Bryce Harper and the Philadelphia Phillies. Washington (86-69) conceivably can punch its ticket to the playoffs and eliminate Philadelphia (79-76) from postseason consideration on Tuesday when the National League East rivals play a doubleheader at Nationals Park.
Chi. Cubs at Pittsburgh 7:05 PM ET
The Chicago Cubs have nearly played themselves out of playoff contention with an incredibly frustrating losing streak and have almost no margin for error entering the final road trip of the season. The do-or-die excursion begins with the first of three games at the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night.
Baltimore at Toronto 7:07 PM ET
Anthony Alford is trying to state his case for a 2020 role, and the 25-year-old hopes to get another opportunity when the Toronto Blue Jays host the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday. Alford took a positive step in the opener of the three-game series when he smacked the walk-off homer in the 15th inning of Monday's 11-10 victory.
NY Yankees at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays' lack of success against the New York Yankees kept them from winning the American League East, and the latter could be a major reason why they find themselves on the outside looking in during the postseason as well. The Rays attempt to hold on to their slim lead for the second wild card Tuesday when they host the opener of a two-game set against the Yankees.
Miami at NY Mets 7:10 PM ET
The Miami Marlins pushed the New York Mets to the brink of elimination after doubling up their National League East rivals in the opener of a four-game series at Citi Field. The cellar-dwelling Marlins (55-101) could provide the final shove on Tuesday with a victory over the Mets (81-75) and wins by Washington and Milwaukee.
Boston at Texas 8:05 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox may be able to point to a number of areas as to why they won't get a chance to defend their World Series title this season, but a lack of success away from home won't be one of them. The Red Sox begin their final road series of the season Tuesday when they visit Texas for the first of three games against the Rangers.
Cleveland at Chi. White Sox 8:10 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians enter the final week of the regular season in a three-way battle for two American League wild-card spots as they open a six-game road trip with the first of three against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night. The Indians are a half game behind Tampa Bay for the second wild card and two in back of Oakland for the top position after routing Philadelphia 10-1 on Sunday to win for the sixth time in the last seven outings.
Atlanta at Kansas City 8:15 PM ET
The Atlanta Braves enter the final week of the regular season with their focus solely on the National League Division Series, but the NL East champions head to Kansas City to open a two-game series Tuesday missing one of their top players. First baseman Freddie Freeman, who begins the week tied for tops in the majors with 121 RBIs, will not make the trip after experiencing pain from a bone spur in his right elbow in Sunday’s loss to San Francisco.
St. Louis at Arizona 9:40 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals look to record their season-best seventh consecutive victory when they visit the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday in the middle contest of a three-game set. St. Louis holds a 3 1/2-game lead over the Milwaukee Brewers with five games remaining as it strives to earn the National League Central crown.
Colorado at San Francisco 9:45 PM ET
The Bruce Bochy farewell tour nears the finish line as the San Francisco Giants begin their season-ending six-game homestand Tuesday with the first of three against the Colorado Rockies. Bochy, who will retire after Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, has split 2,100 regular-season games as San Francisco manager but World Series titles in 2010, 2012 and 2014 cemented his status as one of the most successful skippers in history.
Oakland at LA Angels 10:07 PM ET
The Oakland Athletics have not dropped back-to-back games in three weeks and don't plan on doing so again as they try to lock up the top wild card spot in the American League. The Athletics saw their latest winning streak come to an end with an 8-3 loss in the home finale on Sunday but will try to get right back on top when they visit the Los Angeles Angels for the opener of a two-game series on Tuesday.
LA Dodgers at San Diego 10:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers still have a shot at the best record in baseball as they enter the final week of the regular season and don’t show any signs of slowing down. The Dodgers will try to get started on another series win when they visit the San Diego Padres for the opener of a three-game set on Tuesday.
Houston at Seattle 10:10 PM ET
The Houston Astros took the first step toward winning a second World Series title in three years and begin work on the next phase when they visit the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday for the opener of a two-game series. Houston, which has won 16 of 17 contests against Seattle this year, leads the New York Yankees by one-half game in the race for homefield advantage after clinching its third straight American League West title with a 13-5 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday.
