August 28, 2019
St. Louis at Milwaukee 2:10 PM ET
The red-hot St. Louis Cardinals look to post a season-best seventh consecutive win when they visit the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday afternoon for the finale of their three-game series. Yadier Molina went 3-for-3 with two homers in Tuesday's 6-3 triumph as the streaking Cardinals were victorious for the ninth time in 10 contests.
NY Yankees at Seattle 4:10 PM ET
The New York Yankees attempt to conclude their nine-game road trip with a three-game sweep when they visit the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday afternoon for the finale of their series. New York began its trek on the wrong side of a three-game sweep in Oakland but is in position to record one of its own after outscoring Seattle 12-4 in winning the first two contests of the set.
Pittsburgh at Philadelphia 6:05 PM ET
Rhys Hoskins likely can't wait to turn the page on the calendar after adding yet another black mark to what has been a brutal month of August in his last contest. Hoskins hopes to halt his demoralizing stretch on Wednesday as the Philadelphia Phillies play the rubber match of their three-game series against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates.
Baltimore at Washington 7:05 PM ET
The Washington Nationals strengthened their grip on the top wild card despite minimal contributions from ace right-hander Max Scherzer, who will make only his third start since the All-Star break when he takes the mound against the visiting Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night. Baltimore ended Washington's five-game winning streak with a 2-0 win in the series opener.
Atlanta at Toronto 7:07 PM ET
The Toronto Blue Jays are looking to the future with several top prospects populating their everyday lineup, and because of the efforts of three of those players they look to finish a two-game home sweep of the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday. The trio of Bo Bichette, Cavan Biggio and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. combined to go 5-for-11 with two runs scored and one RBI in Tuesday’s series opener, a 3-1 triumph that gave the Blue Jays just their second victory in their past nine games.
Cincinnati at Miami 7:10 PM ET
Eugenio Suarez has gone deep in three straight games for the second time in August to boost his career-best home run total to a team-leading 37 on the season. The 28-year-old aims to continue both his individual good fortune as well as the Cincinnati Reds' mastery of the Marlins on Wednesday when the clubs play the third contest of their four-game series in Miami.
Cleveland at Detroit 7:10 PM ET
Franmil Reyes and the Cleveland Indians hope to continue their power surge when they visit the major league-worst Detroit Tigers for the second of a three-game set between American League Central rivals Wednesday night. Reyes belted his fourth homer in three games as the Indians went deep three times in Tuesday’s 10-1 victory in the series opener for their 13th win in 14 meetings against Detroit this season.
Chi. Cubs at NY Mets 7:10 PM ET
A pair of slumping middle infielders came to life just when the Chicago Cubs needed them most, helping to end a three-game losing streak and halt their doldrums away from home. Javier Báez and Addison Russell each swatted two-run homers and collected three hits to put Chicago in position to secure a series win at the New York Mets on Wednesday night.
Tampa Bay at Houston 8:10 PM ET
The much-anticipated pitching duel did not materialize in the series opener, but two more red-hot hurlers will step on the mound when the Tampa Bay Rays visit the Houston Astros on Wednesday night. Houston right-hander Gerrit Cole has not lost since May 22 and Tampa Bay lefty Ryan Yarbrough is unbeaten in his last 12 trips to the mound as they prepare to meet in the second of a three-game set.
Minnesota at Chi. White Sox 8:10 PM ET
A 10-game road trip the will carry into the final month of the season is a formidable test for any title contender, but the Minnesota Twins are showing no signs of easing up away from home. The American League Central-leading Twins will take a five-game road winning streak into the second of a three-game set at the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night.
Oakland at Kansas City 8:15 PM ET
The Oakland Athletics appear to have recovered from back-to-back home losses in the Bay Bridge Series, thanks in no small part to Marcus Semien. The team looks to clinch a series victory when it visits the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday for the third contest of their four-game set.
Boston at Colorado 8:40 PM ET
Jackie Bradley Jr.’s mammoth home run might still be airborne Wednesday when the Boston Red Sox conclude their brief two-game interleague series against the host Colorado Rockies. Bradley crushed a 478-foot homer in Tuesday’s 10-6 victory as Boston improved to 8-3 in its last 11 contests.
LA Dodgers at San Diego 9:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers broke out of their offensive slumber and aim to follow it up with more production when they visit the San Diego Padres on Wednesday for the finale of their three-game series. The Dodgers had scored just 13 runs over a six-game stretch before racking up 14 hits while routing the Padres 9-0 on Tuesday.
Texas at LA Angels 10:07 PM ET
The Texas Rangers may want to consider pitching around Mike Trout when they visit the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday for the finale of their two-game series. Trout helped the Angels snap a five-game losing streak on Tuesday, hitting his major league-leading 43rd homer - and 11th against the Angels this season - in a 5-2 victory.
