August 13, 2019
Houston at Chi. White Sox 4:40 PM ET
On the verge of winning their ninth game in a row with a dramatic ninth-inning comeback, the Houston Astros instead were victimized by a walk-off home run to temporary slow their momentum. Following a rainout of Monday's series opener, the Astros will turn to recent acquisition Zack Greinke when they continue their 10-game road trip with the first game of a doubleheader against the host Chicago White Sox on Tuesday.
Baltimore at NY Yankees 7:05 PM ET
The most one-sided matchup in baseball continues Tuesday in New York as the host Yankees look to continue their dominance of the Baltimore Orioles. The Yankees slugged seven more home runs in sweeping a doubleheader to begin the four-game set Monday, running their phenomenal winning streak against the Orioles to 14 in a row.
Cincinnati at Washington 7:05 PM ET
Even with several key core players either injured or otherwise unavailable, the Washington Nationals are proving to be a resilient bunch - one that is unwilling to give up the top wild-card spot in the National League easily. Washington seeks its sixth victory in eight contests on Tuesday, when it continues its three-game home series against the Cincinnati Reds.
Chi. Cubs at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
The Chicago Cubs have endured disastrous results away from the friendly confines of Wrigley Field, and their last outing appeared headed in that direction before the club erupted for six unanswered runs. The Cubs aim to ride the momentum of that comeback victory into Philadelphia on Tuesday when they continue their 10-game road trip with the opener of a three-game series versus the Phillies.
Texas at Toronto 7:07 PM ET
The future continues to look brighter for the Toronto Blue Jays, who will try to ride their young stars to another win when they continue a three-game series with the visiting Texas Rangers on Tuesday. Rookies Bo Bichette, Cavan Biggio and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. combined to go 8-for-16 at the top of the lineup to lead the Blue Jays to a 19-4 win in Monday's series opener.
Boston at Cleveland 7:10 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians have taken over first place in the American League Central for the first time since April 19 and look to stay there at least one more day when they host the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night. Carlos Santana belted a walk-off, solo homer leading off the bottom of the ninth inning to take the series opener 6-5 from the Red Sox on Monday as the Indians passed the idle Minnesota Twins for the top spot by one-half game in the division.
LA Dodgers at Miami 7:10 PM ET
Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw already has won three National League Cy Young Awards and he's making a late-season push to add another to his collection. Kershaw looks to win his fourth consecutive start and fifth decision in a row when the Dodgers open a six-game road trip with the first of three at the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night.
Seattle at Detroit 7:10 PM ET
Aside from a 13-2 start to the season, highlights have been few and far between for the Seattle Mariners, but one of them came against Detroit late last month. Seattle swept a four-game set from the Tigers as part of a season high-tying six-game winning streak, but Detroit will get a chance at revenge when it hosts the Mariners in the first of three on Tuesday night.
NY Mets at Atlanta 7:20 PM ET
The New York Mets have won 15 of their past 17 games, a frantic stretch to vault them back into the National League wild card race, and after winning a weekend series against Washington they will begin a six-game road trip on Tuesday against the Atlanta Braves. Mets starting pitchers have a 2.66 ERA since the All-Star break while getting several players to step up offensively in support of Pete Alonso and Jeff McNeil, pulling New York within one game of playoff position.
Houston at Chi. White Sox 8:10 PM ET
On the verge of winning their ninth game in a row with a dramatic ninth-inning comeback, the Houston Astros instead were victimized by a walk-off home run to temporary slow their momentum. Following a rainout of Monday's series opener, the Astros hope to begin another long winning streak when they visit the Chicago White Sox for a doubleheader on Tuesday.
Minnesota at Milwaukee 8:10 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins aim to pick up the pieces after answering a sterling 9-2 stretch with losses in five of their last six contests, including three of four to their closest division rival. The Twins will look to get back on track Tuesday when they open an abbreviated two-game interleague series against the host Milwaukee Brewers.
St. Louis at Kansas City 8:15 PM ET
The Kansas City Royals are reduced to playing spoiler the rest of the way, and helping to knock their cross-state rivals out of the race in the National League Central could motivate the club. The Royals begin a five-game homestand against NL wild card hopefuls by hosting the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday.
Arizona at Colorado 8:40 PM ET
The Arizona Diamondbacks are back above .500 and part of the mix in the National League wild-card derby. Arizona looks for its seventh win in 10 games when it visits the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday for the middle contest of their three-game series.
Oakland at San Francisco 9:45 PM ET
The Oakland Athletics are in a battle for the second wild card in the American League and are hoping to end their road trip on a high note by diminishing the San Francisco Giants' wild card chances. The Athletics visit the Giants for the opener of a key two-game series Tuesday with both teams looking up in the wild card race.
Pittsburgh at LA Angels 10:07 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates halted their eight-game slide in the series opener and look for another win over the host Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday. Pittsburgh belted four homers in the initial contest of three-game set as it won for just the fifth time in 29 contests.
Tampa Bay at San Diego 10:10 PM ET
While first place in the American League East seems unattainable, the Tampa Bay Rays won't be relinquishing the second wild-card spot without a good fight. The Rays attempt to strengthen their hold on the position and extend their road winning streak to nine games when they visit the San Diego Padres for the middle contest of their three-game interleague series.
