After opening the set with a 12-6 win to push their season-high winning streak to nine games - during which they averaged nearly nine runs per game -the Yankees fell 8-2 on Friday while going 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position.
LA Angels at Boston 4:05 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox are trying to dig out of a tailspin and climb back into contention for a wild-card spot. Whether they can accomplish the latter remains to be see, but the defending World Series champions are taking advantage of a team in more dire straits as they continue a four-game series against the visiting Los Angeles Angels on Saturday afternoon.
Philadelphia at San Francisco 4:05 PM ET
One day after making a rare appearance in the leadoff spot, Bryce Harper could find himself there again Saturday when the Philadelphia Phillies continue their four-game series against the host San Francisco Giants. Harper helped the Phillies snap a three-game losing streak with two homers and four RBIs in Friday’s 9-6 victory.
Atlanta at Miami 6:10 PM ET
Ronald Acuna Jr. continues to establish himself as one of the biggest stars in the majors entering Saturday’s contest at the Miami Marlins - an opponent the Atlanta Braves' 21-year-old outfield has dominated through the first two seasons of his big-league career. Acuna went 3-for-5 with two homers and four RBIs in Friday’s 8-4 victory, lifting his average to .339 while increasing his totals to 14 homers, 32 RBIs and 28 runs scored in 32 career games against the Marlins.
Kansas City at Detroit 6:10 PM ET
The Detroit Tigers have won back-to-back games for the first time since the end of May and will try to make it three in row when they host the struggling Kansas City Royals in the third of a four-game series Saturday night. Catcher Jake Rogers launched his third homer in nine games since being recalled for the first time as Detroit knocked off Kansas City 5-2 on Friday, earning its ninth win in 14 meetings during the season series.
Houston at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The Houston Astros are without peer in the American League West and are tied with the New York Yankees for the best record in the AL after stretching their current winning streak to seven straight with a 3-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Friday. The Astros will try to make it eight in a row when they visit the Orioles for the second of a three-game series on Saturday.
Cleveland at Minnesota 7:10 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians have climbed all the way back from double digits down in the American League Central and can take over the top spot when they visit the Minnesota Twins on Saturday night. The Indians are 41-16 since June 4 after earning a 6-2 victory Friday against the Twins, who are 30-28 since holding an 11 1/2-game advantage in the division and have dropped four straight for the first time this season.
Oakland at Chi. White Sox 7:10 PM ET
Oakland's Matt Chapman entered Friday 2-for-47 in his last 13 games but the slugging third baseman could be ready to bust out of his slump as the Athletics visit the Chicago White Sox on Saturday in the middle contest of three-game series. Chapman, whose previous two hits were home runs, belted his career-high 25th homer of the season as part of a two-hit performance in Oakland's 7-0 victory Friday afternoon.
Texas at Milwaukee 7:10 PM ET
A third straight missed game by reigning National League MVP Christian Yelich and a blown save by fellow All-Star Josh Hader generally would be the recipe for the continuation of a losing streak for the Milwaukee Brewers. However, the Brewers find themselves in position to run their winning streak to five games on Saturday, when they host the Texas Rangers for the middle contest of their three-game interleague series.
Chi. Cubs at Cincinnati 7:10 PM ET
One night after newcomers set the tone for the Chicago Cubs in a shellacking of Cincinnati, the Reds received huge contributions from their recent additions in what was as close to a must-win game as they have faced all season. Winners of nine of its last 13, resurgent Cincinnati looks to continue Chicago's road woes in the third of a four-game set Saturday night.
Washington at NY Mets 7:10 PM ET
The New York Mets are trying to prove themselves against tougher competition this weekend and passed the first test with a walk-off victory on Friday. The Mets will try to make it eight consecutive victories and fight off the pack in the National League wild-card race when they host the Washington Nationals in the second of a three-game series on Saturday.
Pittsburgh at St. Louis 7:15 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals took their time heeding manager Mike Shildt's advice on Friday, but it ended up paying off in the end as they snapped their five-game skid. The Cardinals look to win back-to-back games for the first time in over two weeks when they host the middle contest of their three-game series against the struggling Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday.
Colorado at San Diego 8:40 PM ET
The San Diego Padres may be in the midst of a ninth straight losing season but there appears to be hope for the near future in the form of their crop of rookies. Fernando Tatis Jr. and the Padres seek their third consecutive win when they host the Colorado Rockies on Saturday for the third contest of their four-game series.
Arizona at LA Dodgers 9:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers will try to bounce back after an improbable loss at Chavez Ravine when they host the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday in what could be a heated middle contest of their three-game set. Carson Kelly hit two home runs - a two-run shot in the ninth inning off closer Kenley Jansen and a solo blast against Julio Urias in the 11th - to give the Diamondbacks a 3-2 victory in the series opener.
Tampa Bay at Seattle 10:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays went more than four years without winning a game in Seattle, and they'll try to make it two straight when they visit the Mariners on Saturday for the middle contest of their three-game series.
