Preview Roundups
June 27, 2019
NY Mets at Philadelphia 1:05 PM ET
The Philadelphia Phillies have turned the tables on the New York Mets in three straight games and are doing their best to change the narrative after the latter won the season series in each of the last seven years. Winners of six of nine in the 2019 season set, the host Phillies bid for a four-game series sweep of their National League East rivals Thursday afternoon.
Texas at Detroit 1:10 PM ET
The Texas Rangers will try to match their longest winning streak of the season when they cap a three-game series at the Detroit Tigers on Thursday. A 4-1 victory in Wednesday's matchup ran the Rangers' streak to four in a row, gave them a 6-0-3 mark in their last nine series and left the club at 27-14 since the middle of May.
Tampa Bay at Minnesota 1:10 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins are bucking a common trend as they continue to prove good hitting beats good pitching, and they vie for a three-game sweep of the visiting Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday afternoon. Minnesota, which leads the majors with an average of 5.8 runs, has outscored Tampa Bay and its American League-leading 3.28 ERA 15-8 in the first two contests of the series to extend their winning streak in the all-time series to five games.
Pittsburgh at Houston 2:10 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates lead the major leagues with a .292 batting average in June and hope to continue their hot hitting when they visit the Houston Astros on Thursday afternoon for the rubber match of their three-game series. Pittsburgh prevailed 14-2 on Wednesday for its fifth victory in six contests as rookie Kevin Newman (.326 this season) extended baseball's longest active hitting streak to 16 games (.375) after going 4-for-6.
Seattle at Milwaukee 2:10 PM ET
The Seattle Mariners look to complete a three-game series sweep and run their overall winning streak to four games when they visit the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday afternoon. Seattle has won six of its last seven contests while the slumping Brewers have lost seven of their last nine.
Atlanta at Chi. Cubs 2:20 PM ET
The Atlanta Braves keep racking up the victories and search for their 16th triumph in 20 contests when they visit the Chicago Cubs on Thursday afternoon for the finale of their four-game series. Atlanta has surrendered only five runs while winning their last two meetings after the Cubs prevailed in Monday's opener.
Washington at Miami 7:10 PM ET
Washington Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg has flustered the Miami Marlins to the tune of winning nine straight decisions while his 18 victories over the club are his most against all other major league teams. Strasburg aims to continue his dominating ways Thursday as the surging Nationals vie for a three-game sweep of the host Marlins.
LA Dodgers at Colorado 8:40 PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers own the best record in the major leagues and have turned the National League West into a runaway as they prepare to square off with the Colorado Rockies for the second time in a week. After losing two of three at division rival Arizona, the Dodgers resume their seven-game road trip with the first of four in Colorado on Thursday night.
Arizona at San Francisco 9:45 PM ET
The Arizona Diamondbacks have been much better on the road than at home, a trend they hope holds true to form as they head to San Francisco to open a four-game series against the last-place Giants on Thursday night. The Diamondbacks are sitting just off the wild-card lead in the National League thanks to their 24-19 record away from home.
Oakland at LA Angels 10:07 PM ET
After winning five of the final seven contests of their 10-game homestand, the Oakland Athletics have remained hot to start their six-game road trip. Oakland seeks its fifth consecutive road win overall when it begins a four-game series against the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday.
