Preview Roundups
June 18, 2019
Philadelphia at Washington 7:05 PM ET
The Washington Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies were on opposite ends of a 15-run spectrum in their last respective outings, with the former matching a season high for runs scored in a game. After Mother Nature intervened before Monday's game was postponed following a nearly three-hour rain delay, the Nationals hope their high-powered offense carries over to Tuesday when they face the visiting Phillies.
Tampa Bay at NY Yankees 7:05 PM ET
The New York Yankees have hit at least one home run in 20 straight games and are expected to get another slugger back in the lineup Tuesday when they continue a three-game set against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays. Cameron Maybin went deep for the third straight game while DJ LeMahieu belted a two-run blast in a 3-0 series-opening victory for the Yankees on Monday and Giancarlo Stanton is slated to return for the second game of the set.
Detroit at Pittsburgh 7:05 PM ET
The Detroit Tigers figure to have no issues with getting away from home for a few days after losing 17 of their last 19 at Comerica Park, while the Pittsburgh Pirates probably couldn't be happier to face another American League opponent. The Pirates attempt to move to 8-2 in interleague play on Tuesday when they kick off a two-game set against the visiting Tigers.
LA Angels at Toronto 7:07 PM ET
Justin Upton wasted no time at all making an impact for the Los Angeles Angels, who look to stay hot when they continue a four-game series at the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday. Upton, who returned from a toe injury to make his season debut Monday, homered in his first at-bat to help set the tone in the Angels' 10-5 win in the series opener.
Houston at Cincinnati 7:10 PM ET
The host Cincinnati Reds seek a three-game winning streak for the first time in well over a month and can give the Houston Astros their first three-game losing streak in nearly two months when the teams play the second of three straight Tuesday night. The Reds took the opener of the interleague set 3-2 behind six solid innings by Luis Castillo and two RBIs from rookie Nick Senzel.
NY Mets at Atlanta 7:20 PM ET
Ozzie Albies was an All-Star last season despite pronounced struggles against right-handed pitching, but the Atlanta Braves' switch-hitting second baseman is showing why he is one of the top stars for the NL East leaders entering Tuesday’s home game against the New York Mets. Albies, who hit .231 against right-handers last season, went 3-for-5 in Monday’s 12-3 victory to lift his average from the left side to .262, helping Atlanta win for the 10th time in 11 games.
Cleveland at Texas 8:05 PM ET
The Texas Rangers hope to continue their dominance at home despite injury concerns when they host the Cleveland Indians for the second contest of their four-game series on Tuesday. Danny Santana recorded two hits for the third straight game, belting a two-run homer in Monday’s 7-2 triumph as the Rangers improved to 25-12 at Globe Life Park.
Chi. White Sox at Chi. Cubs 8:05 PM ET
The battle of Chicago goes head-to-head this week when the Cubs host the White Sox on Tuesday in the opener of a two-game interleague series. The White Sox are trying to get to where their crosstown rivals are - vying for postseason spot - and are pushing along in their rebuild.
Boston at Minnesota 8:10 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox look to extend their season-best winning streak to seven games when they visit the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday for the middle contest of their three-game set. The defending World Series-champion Red Sox are a season-high six games over .500 after posting a 2-0 win in Monday's series opener.
Miami at St. Louis 8:15 PM ET
Dexter Fowler sputtered through a disastrous May and the beginning of June wasn't much better until he started flexing his muscles at the plate. Fresh off hitting his third homer in four contests, Fowler looks to send the St. Louis Cardinals to their seventh win in nine outings on Tuesday when they continue their four-game series against the visiting Miami Marlins.
Colorado at Arizona 9:40 PM ET
The Arizona Diamondbacks found themselves on opposite ends of an offensive explosion in each of their past two contests, which pretty much sums up what the Colorado Rockies witnessed every day during their last series. The Rockies hope to carry over what turned out to be a history-making weekend at Coors Field when they begin a nine-game road swing against National League West rivals on Tuesday with the first of three contests in Arizona.
Baltimore at Oakland 10:07 PM ET
The Baltimore Orioles attempt to halt their losing streak at six games when they visit the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday for the middle contest of their three-game series. Baltimore held an early lead in Monday's series opener but squandered it en route to a 3-2 defeat.
Milwaukee at San Diego 10:10 PM ET
One day after being shut out for just the third time this season, the Milwaukee Brewers aim for a return to form when they continue their three-game series against the host San Diego Padres on Tuesday. Milwaukee averaged 5.8 runs over its previous 21 contests before managing four hits in Monday’s 2-0 loss.
San Francisco at LA Dodgers 10:10 PM ET
Clayton Kershaw looks to avenge his lone setback of the season when the Los Angeles Dodgers host the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday for the second contest of their four-game series. The ace left-hander lost in San Francisco on June 7 despite giving up only two runs and six hits over seven innings.
Kansas City at Seattle 10:10 PM ET
The Kansas City Royals staged a late rally in the series opener to even out their record through the first four contests of their six-game road trip. They vie for a third straight victory when they visit the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday.
