Preview Roundups
June 12, 2019
Oakland at Tampa Bay 12:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays find themselves tied for the American League East lead despite owning a home record that is just slightly above .500. After dropping four of their last five contests at Tropicana Field, the Rays bid for a series victory on Wednesday afternoon when they play the rubber match against the Oakland Athletics.
Cincinnati at Cleveland 1:10 PM ET
The away team has enjoyed the better of play in the Ohio Cup since 2017, but the Cleveland Indians reversed that trend in this year's first matchup. After posting a 10-inning walk-off victory Tuesday night, the Indians will look to win three consecutive series for the first time this season when they wrap up a two-game set versus the visiting Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday afternoon.
Chi. Cubs at Colorado 3:10 PM ET
The Colorado Rockies try for their 11th straight home victory and a three-game sweep of the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday afternoon. Colorado (35-31) rolled to a 10-3 victory Tuesday behind a combined five RBIs from Charlie Blackmon and Daniel Murphy as it continues pursuit of a third straight National League wild-card berth.
Texas at Boston 4:05 PM ET
The Texas Rangers have plowed their way into an American League wild-card position by winning 11 of their last 15 contests, and they look to push the Red Sox further behind when the teams meet in Boston on Wednesday for the third contest of their four-game series. Hunter Pence belted a two-run, inside-the-park homer in Tuesday's 9-5 victory after the Rangers pulled out a 4-3 triumph in 11 innings in the series opener.
Arizona at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
Scott Kingery isn't holding back against his hometown team, as the Phoenix native has homered three times and driven in five runs during the first two contests of a three-game series versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. Kingery and the Philadelphia Phillies will vie for a series victory against the visiting Diamondbacks on Wednesday at Citizens Bank Park.
Toronto at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The last-place Baltimore Orioles have pulled within two games of Toronto in the American League East and have a chance to post their first series win in seven weeks when they host the Blue Jays in the second of a three-game set Wednesday night. Baltimore pounded out six doubles -- four for RBIs -- to send skidding Toronto to its fifth consecutive defeat in the series opener.
St. Louis at Miami 7:10 PM ET
Marcell Ozuna has punished his former team in the first two contests of the series and hopes to continue the trend when the St. Louis Cardinals visit the Miami Marlins on Wednesday for the finale of their three-game set. Ozuna, who was acquired from the Marlins after the 2017 season, recorded two hits and scored twice in the series opener before launching his team-best 18th homer and reaching on a single in Tuesday’s 7-1 victory.
Pittsburgh at Atlanta 7:20 PM ET
The Atlanta Braves have cranked up the power through their first two contests of a four-game home series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, and look to keep the longballs flying entering Wednesday’s matchup. The Braves have hit 10 homers in winning the first two games of the series and belted five in each contest, riding two homers and four RBIs from catcher Brian McCann in Tuesday’s 7-5 victory as Atlanta hit back-to-back blasts twice in the second inning.
Milwaukee at Houston 8:10 PM ET
Justin Verlander looks to become the first 10-game winner in the major leagues this year when the Houston Astros host the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday for the finale of their two-game interleague series. Verlander won't be the only hot hurler on the mound as Milwaukee's Brandon Woodruff looks to win his eighth straight decision.
Seattle at Minnesota 8:10 PM ET
The streaking Minnesota Twins look to notch their 20th victory in 26 games when they host the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday for the middle contest of their three-game series. The Twins opened a nine-game homestand by pushing across three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to beat the Mariners 6-5 on Tuesday.
Detroit at Kansas City 8:15 PM ET
A late surge in the series opener helped the Kansas City Royals avoid a 15th loss in 18 games. They attempt to post back-to-back wins for the first time since May 19 and 22 when they host the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday for the middle contest of their three-game set.
San Diego at San Francisco 9:45 PM ET
The All-Star game is still a month away, but the season is already getting late for the promising but struggling San Diego Padres. After falling below .500 with another close loss, the Padres conclude their brief two-game set against the host San Francisco Giants on Wednesday.
