Preview Roundups
June 09, 2019
Tampa Bay at Boston 1:05 PM ET
Home field has been anything but an advantage for the Boston Red Sox or Tampa Bay Rays almost halfway through the season series between the American League East rivals. After becoming the first team of the two to drop a road game against the other during the teams' split doubleheader Saturday, the Rays attempt to secure a series victory Sunday when they face the Red Sox in the finale of a four-game set in Boston.
Cincinnati at Philadelphia 1:05 PM ET
Philadelphia's pitchers are dominating the Cincinnati Reds through the first two games of their three-game series, and the host Phillies will turn to their ace when they aim for the sweep Sunday afternoon. Behind Nick Pivetta's first career complete game, Philadelphia coasted to a 4-1 triumph Saturday afternoon after taking the series opener 4-2.
Arizona at Toronto 1:07 PM ET
The Arizona Diamondbacks have played sub-.500 ball at home this season while attempting to navigate a schedule that has them tied for the most road games in the National League. The Diamondbacks are off to a solid start on their current 10-game trek and will look to complete their fourth road sweep in the finale of a three-game set at the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon.
NY Yankees at Cleveland 1:10 PM ET
The top competition in the American League has brought out the best in the Cleveland Indians, who have posted consecutive series victories over two teams that arrived at Progressive Field sitting atop their respective divisions. The Indians are 4-1 on their eight-game homestand and will look to complete a sweep of the New York Yankees on Sunday afternoon.
Atlanta at Miami 1:10 PM ET
The Atlanta Braves enter Sunday’s series finale at the Miami Marlins looking to continue their dominance of the season series, thanks to yet another suffocating pitching performance in Saturday’s 1-0 victory. One day after Mike Soroka carried a shutout into the ninth inning, Julio Teheran fired six scoreless innings as Atlanta's starters lowered their ERA in eight games against the Marlins this season to 1.11, as the Braves beat Miami for the seventh time in eight games in 2019.
Minnesota at Detroit 1:10 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins surged to the top of the American League Central and are in a race for the best record in the league thanks to their homer-happy offense but giving up the long ball can get the pitching staff into some trouble. The Twins will try to make sure they're the only team leaving the yard when they visit the Detroit Tigers in the rubber match of a three-game series Sunday.
Colorado at NY Mets 1:10 PM ET
The New York Mets and Colorado Rockies have only faced off twice in 2019, but there has been no shortage of fireworks between the clubs. The Mets seek their 13th victory in their last 17 home games and a series win Sunday when they host the Rockies in the rubber match of their three-game set.
Baltimore at Houston 2:10 PM ET
The Baltimore Orioles picked up their first win in Houston since 2015 with a late rally Saturday and can record a rare series win in the rubber game against the Astros on Sunday. The Orioles pushed across the go-ahead run in the eighth inning and added a two-run homer from Richie Martin in the ninth to take a 4-1 victory Saturday after dropping the series opener.
Pittsburgh at Milwaukee 2:10 PM ET
The Milwaukee Brewers are 6-3 in their last nine games, with five of those victories coming over the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Brewers will try to continue their dominance over the division rivals when they host the Pirates in the finale of a three-game series Sunday.
Chi. White Sox at Kansas City 2:15 PM ET
The Chicago White Sox aim for their third straight series win over the host Kansas City Royals when the teams cap a three-game set Sunday afternoon. The White Sox have taken seven of the last nine meetings between the American Central division foes after riding the arm of Lucas Giolito to a 2-0 victory Saturday.
Oakland at Texas 3:05 PM ET
Oakland and Texas have met 740 times since the Rangers started play in 1972 with each team winning 370. The tie will be broken Sunday when Texas hosts the Athletics in the finale of their four-game series after the Rangers swept Saturday's doubleheader by a combined 13-6, reversing a losing trend against its American League West rival.
LA Dodgers at San Francisco 4:05 PM ET
Turning the calendar to June clearly agreed with Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager, who is heating up following a slow start. The Dodgers visit the San Francisco Giants on Sunday in the rubber match of a three-game series after Seager went 4-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI in Saturday’s 7-2 victory.
Seattle at LA Angels 4:07 PM ET
Los Angeles Angels center fielder Mike Trout is widely considered the best player in baseball and the Seattle Mariners know it all too well. Trout is batting .325 with 37 home runs and 95 RBIs against Seattle and will try to continue padding those numbers when the Angels host the Mariners on Sunday in the rubber match of their three-game series.
Washington at San Diego 4:10 PM ET
Batting less than .200 just a month ago, Washington Nationals second baseman Brian Dozier has left his slow start behind and emerged as one of the team’s hottest hitters. Dozier is batting .328 with five home runs and 16 RBIs over his last 19 contests for the Nationals, who conclude their four-game series against the host San Diego Padres on Sunday.
St. Louis at Chi. Cubs 7:05 PM ET
The Chicago Cubs hope to continue the trend that has seen the home team win every game in the season series when they host the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday night. The Cubs improved to 5-0 versus the Cardinals at Wrigley Field in 2019 with Saturday's 9-4 victory that was their fifth in the last six games since being swept in St. Louis last weekend and kept them in a virtual tie with Milwaukee atop the National League Central.
