Preview Roundups
June 04, 2019
Chi. White Sox at Washington 7:05 PM ET
The Chicago White Sox and Washington Nationals will be the last teams to dip their toes in the interleague waters on Tuesday when they play the opener of their two-game series in the nation's capital. The White Sox are riding the momentum of a successful 6-1 homestand while the Nationals have answered a season-high five-game losing skid by winning seven of their last nine contests.
Atlanta at Pittsburgh 7:05 PM ET
Josh Bell is off to a slow start through two games in June after a torrid May, but the Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman looks to heat up again entering Tuesday’s opener of a three-game home series against the Atlanta Braves. Bell, who was named the National League Player of the Month after batting .390 with 12 homers in 29 games last month, started the week leading the majors with 53 RBIs while ranking fourth in the NL in hitting at .332 and tied for fourth in homers with 18.
NY Yankees at Toronto 7:07 PM ET
Although they came up short in their bid to sweep bitter rival Boston, the New York Yankees have won 20 of 26 games to ascend to the top of the American League East. The Yankees will be looking to avoid consecutive defeats for the first time in more than a month when they open a six-game road trip with the first of three at the reeling Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.
Minnesota at Cleveland 7:10 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins have built a comfortable lead in the American League Central and look to widen that advantage when they visit the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday for the opener of a three-game series. The Twins (40-18) own the best record in baseball after winning 10 of their last 12 to push their lead in the AL Central to 11 1/2 games over the Indians and the Chicago White Sox.
Tampa Bay at Detroit 7:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays suffered three straight losses against the major league’s top team over the weekend and hope to take advantage of one of the worst when they open a three-game road series against the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday night. The Rays had won six straight games before getting outscored 20-12 to drop three in a row against Minnesota despite recording seven runs late in Sunday's 9-7 loss.
San Francisco at NY Mets 7:10 PM ET
In the not-too-distant past, a pitching duel between Madison Bumgarner and Noah Syndergaard would be worth the price of admission. However, both of the former All-Stars have been struggling and will each be seeking their fourth win when they square off in the opener of a three-game series between the visiting San Francisco Giants and New York Mets on Tuesday night.
Miami at Milwaukee 7:40 PM ET
Christian Yelich is bashing his way out a recent slump just in time for the reigning National League Most Valuable Player to welcome his former team to Miller Park. After collecting consecutive two-hit performances, Yelich looks to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to their sixth win in eight outings on Tuesday when they play the opener of a three-game series versus the visiting Miami Marlins.
Baltimore at Texas 8:05 PM ET
The Texas Rangers would be a playoff team in the American League if the season ended now, and a strong home record is the reason. The Rangers will try to continue their home success when they host the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday in the opener of a three-game series.
Colorado at Chi. Cubs 8:05 PM ET
Javier Baez's recent struggles at the plate unsurprisingly have contributed to the Chicago Cubs' recent fall from atop the National League Central. The 2018 All-Star may have signaled he is ready to return to form with his last performance, however, and he'll look to build upon his best offensive performance in at least a month when the Cubs open a three-game series against the visiting Colorado Rockies on Tuesday.
Boston at Kansas City 8:15 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox avoided a sweep in the Bronx over the weekend but are still not where they need to be to compete in the American League East. The Red Sox will try to get themselves right against the struggling Kansas City Royals when they visit for the opener of a three-game series Tuesday.
Cincinnati at St. Louis 8:15 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals are riding high after a weekend sweep of their archrivals and try for their fourth five-game winning streak of the season when they host the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday in the opener of a three-game series. St. Louis (30-28) took three from the Chicago Cubs - two by 2-1 scores - after salvaging the finale of a three-game set at Philadelphia and sits third in the competitive National League Central, three games behind first-place Milwaukee.
LA Dodgers at Arizona 9:40 PM ET
Hyun-Jin Ryu looks to win his sixth straight start when the Los Angeles Dodgers visit the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday for the middle contest of their three-game series. The South Korean, who won National League Pitcher of the Month honors, has allowed just two runs and 24 hits in 37 2/3 innings during that stretch.
Oakland at LA Angels 10:07 PM ET
Although it is difficult to tell based on their 12-17 record inside the American League West, the Los Angeles Angels have performed well against their division rivals of late. The Angels begin an eight-game homestand and eye an eighth victory in 11 contests versus AL West opponents on Tuesday, when they host the Oakland Athletics for the opener of their three-game series.
Philadelphia at San Diego 10:10 PM ET
After winning five of six contests, the Philadelphia Phillies have hit the skids and are in danger of falling out of first place in the National League East. Philadelphia looks to halt its five-game losing streak when it visits the San Diego Padres on Tuesday for the middle contest of their three-game series.
Houston at Seattle 10:10 PM ET
The Houston Astros seek their fifth straight win and 24th in 30 games when they visit the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday for the second contest of their four-game set. Houston posted a 4-2 victory in the series opener and has won all four meetings thus far this season.
