Preview Roundups
May 12, 2019
Seattle at Boston 1:05 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox hardly looked like world beaters, much less World Series champions, through the first month of the season but have come alive behind a lineup that is starting to resemble last year's juggernaut. Boston has won 10 of 12 and will take a four-game winning streak into Sunday afternoon's series finale against the visiting Seattle Mariners.
LA Angels at Baltimore 1:05 PM ET
Albert Pujols is far removed from his peak as the best player in baseball, but he is still capable of putting on some impressive performances. Pujols will try to continue making history and lead the Los Angeles Angels to a three-game sweep when they visit the Baltimore Orioles for the series finale on Sunday.
Chi. White Sox at Toronto 1:07 PM ET
The Chicago White Sox found some offense and snapped a three-game slide on Saturday with a 7-2 triumph, rallying for multiple runs in three separate innings. The White Sox will try to continue scoring in bunches and earn a series win when they visit the Toronto Blue Jays for the finale of a three-game series on Sunday.
NY Yankees at Tampa Bay 1:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays and visiting New York Yankees will send their aces to the mound Sunday afternoon for the rubber match of a three-game series between the top two teams in the American League East. Reigning AL Cy Young winner Blake Snell starts the finale for the Rays while New York’s veteran right-hander Masahiro Tanaka will try to cool off Yandy Diaz, who homered twice and drove in four runs for a 7-2 victory Saturday.
Miami at NY Mets 1:10 PM ET
Michael Conforto may appear to be having a slightly above-average season for the New York Mets based on his overall numbers, but the Miami Marlins have yet to find a way to keep him from beating them. The Mets attempt to pull off their second three-game sweep of the Marlins this season when they host their National League East rivals on Sunday for the finale of their series.
Texas at Houston 2:10 PM ET
The Houston Astros proved they could thrive offensively without one of their top hitters last time out and hope to do so again on Sunday as they attempt to complete a four-game sweep of the visiting Texas Rangers. Houston pounded out 13 hits on Saturday en route to an 11-4 victory without Jose Altuve, who suffered a strained left hamstring a day earlier.
Detroit at Minnesota 2:10 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins came up on the short end of a home run-hitting contest as their four-game winning streak came to an end on Saturday afternoon, but they were able to restore order later in the day. The Twins eye their sixth win in seven contests and look to improve on the best record in the major leagues on Sunday, when they host the Detroit Tigers for the finale of their four-game series.
Pittsburgh at St. Louis 2:15 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates have managed a total of eight runs over the past three games against the St. Louis Cardinals but have a chance to post a rare road series over their National League Central Division rivals. Pittsburgh looks to make it three consecutive wins following a beating in the series opener when the teams wrap up a four-game set Sunday in St. Louis.
Philadelphia at Kansas City 2:15 PM ET
The Philadelphia Phillies aim to win their third straight series when they take on the host Kansas City Royals on Sunday in the rubber match of their three-game set. Behind Zach Eflin's second career shutout, the Phillies rolled to a 7-0 victory in Saturday's matchup.
San Diego at Colorado 3:10 PM ET
This weekend’s visit to Coors Field came at just the right time for Wil Myers, who made himself right at home in Saturday’s contest. Myers looks to build on the encouraging performance Sunday, when the San Diego Padres face the Colorado Rockies in the rubber match of their three-game series.
Cincinnati at San Francisco 4:05 PM ET
After the Cincinnati Reds squandered a three-run, first-inning lead on Saturday, Eugenio Suarez took matters into his own hands. The Reds hope to grab an early advantage and keep hold of it on Sunday, when they attempt to complete a sweep of their three-game series against the host San Francisco Giants.
Cleveland at Oakland 4:07 PM ET
The Oakland Athletics try for a three-game sweep of visiting Cleveland on Sunday after walking off on the Indians in the first two contests. Oakland prevailed 3-2 on Saturday when Ramon Laureano's bloop hit found grass after right fielder Jordan Luplow slipped and fell before he could make the catch - one day after Matt Chapman's home run in the 12th inning gave the Athletics a 4-3 victory.
Washington at LA Dodgers 4:10 PM ET
Gerardo Parra made a strong first impression with the Washington Nationals in Saturday’s 5-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers with a go-ahead grand slam in the eighth inning. Waived by San Francisco last week, Parra could be in the lineup again on Sunday as the Nationals conclude their four-game series against the host Dodgers.
Atlanta at Arizona 4:10 PM ET
Brian McCann signed a one-year deal in November to return to the Atlanta Braves, and the veteran catcher has provided tremendous value as his team wraps up a 10-game road trip Sunday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The 35-year-old Atlanta native, who played his first nine major-league seasons with the Braves, homered in Saturday’s 6-4 victory and has recorded a hit in 14 of his 18 games while helping guide the team's young pitching staff.
Milwaukee at Chi. Cubs 7:05 PM ET

After a marathon win, the Chicago Cubs are back on top in the National League Central, but the Milwaukee Brewers would like to rejoin them. The Cubs evened the series and reclaimed a one-game lead over the Brewers with a 2-1 win in 15 innings Saturday, and they’ll try to extend their division lead when Milwaukee visits Sunday night for the finale.
