Preview Roundups
April 20, 2019
Kansas City at NY Yankees 1:05 PM ET
With a nine-game road trip on the opposite coast looming on the horizon, the New York Yankees are trying to build momentum with a strong finish to their current homestand. Winners of three of their last four, New York can move to .500 both overall and at Yankee Stadium when it continues a four-game series against the Kansas City Royals on Saturday afternoon.
Chi. White Sox at Detroit 1:10 PM ET
The Chicago White Sox are tied for the most runs scored in the American League Central Division but they have also allowed the most, a big reason they are sitting three games under .500. The pitching has shown improvement over the past week, helping the White Sox win four of their last six as they continue a four-game series at the Detroit Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
NY Mets at St. Louis 2:15 PM ET
The New York Mets haven't won any of their last four series, so losing the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner probably wasn't what they had in mind to end the string. One day after sending Saturday's scheduled starter Jacob deGrom to the injured list with an elbow issue, the Mets attempt to secure a series victory for the first time since their 5-1 start when they continue a three-game set in St. Louis against the Cardinals on Saturday.
Arizona at Chi. Cubs 2:20 PM ET

Dominant pitching seems to be contagious in the case of the Chicago Cubs’ starting rotation, and the team hopes Yu Darvish will be next to catch the bug. The Cubs will look to Darvish to try and run their winning streak to five games when they host the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday afternoon for the middle contest of their three-game series.

San Francisco at Pittsburgh 4:05 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates are in the midst of their second four-game winning streak this month and will try to push the run to five in a row when they continue a three-game series with the visiting San Francisco Giants on Saturday. Francisco Cervelli's two-run double highlighted a four-run first inning and six pitchers made the early lead hold up in Friday's 4-1 victory for Pittsburgh.
Minnesota at Baltimore 4:05 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins are finding it hard to get in much game action, but they're on tap to play two with a doubleheader Saturday at the Baltimore Orioles. Rain forced the postponement of the scheduled opener of the three-game series Friday night, giving the Twins their seventh day without a game in a span of 22 days.
Toronto at Oakland 4:07 PM ET
The Toronto Blue Jays continued their successful road trip with a long-awaited victory over Oakland in the series opener and look to make it three straight wins on their trek when they visit the Athletics on Saturday afternoon. Toronto improved to 4-1 on its seven-game excursion with a 5-1 triumph on Friday after being swept by Oakland in last season's seven-game series.
Atlanta at Cleveland 4:10 PM ET
The Atlanta Braves' series opener at the Cleveland Indians was rained out Friday, providing them an opportunity to rest a bullpen that has struggled mightily. The Braves and Indians will play a traditional doubleheader Saturday and it’s likely Atlanta’s 26th man will be another arm for a relief corps that began the weekend with a 5.13 ERA, tied for second in the National League in most walks (40) and sagging confidence after ruining three strong outings by the rotation against Arizona.
Boston at Tampa Bay 6:10 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox were waiting for a power outburst from the reigning American League MVP and finally got one at just the right time. Mookie Betts will try to keep swinging a hot bat and lead the Red Sox to a series win when they visit the Tampa Bay Rays for the second of a three-game set on Saturday.
Washington at Miami 6:10 PM ET
The Miami Marlins got just enough from their struggling offense to snap a four-game slide on Friday, though that offense needed quite a bit of help from the other side. The Marlins will try to record an RBI hit and earn a second consecutive victory when they host the Washington Nationals in the second of a three-game series on Saturday.
Minnesota at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins are finding it hard to get in much game action, but they're on tap to play two with a doubleheader Saturday at the Baltimore Orioles. Rain forced the postponement of the scheduled opener of the three-game series Friday night, giving the Twins their seventh day without a game in a span of 22 days.
LA Dodgers at Milwaukee 7:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers look to defeat Milwaukee for the third straight night when they continue their four-game series against the host Brewers on Saturday. Los Angeles owns the longest winning streak in the majors at six games after recording a 5-3 triumph on Friday, while Milwaukee has dropped three consecutive contests.
Houston at Texas 8:05 PM ET
The Houston Astros are poised to start a new winning streak when they visit the Texas Rangers on Saturday in the second contest of a three-game series. Houston, which had its 10-game winning streak snapped Wednesday in Oakland, rolled 7-2 on Friday as the top of the order wreaked havoc on Texas pitching.
Philadelphia at Colorado 8:10 PM ET
Coors Field has become a house of horrors for the Philadelphia Phillies, who have lost six in a row and nine of their last 11 games in Denver. The Phillies look to reverse the trend Saturday when they continue their four-game series against the Colorado Rockies, who have won five in a row following an eight-game losing streak.
Cincinnati at San Diego 8:40 PM ET
The Cincinnati Reds attempt to continue their turnaround on the road when they visit the San Diego Padres on Saturday for the third contest of their four-game series. Cincinnati outlasted the Padres 3-2 in 11 innings on Friday for its second straight road win after losing its first seven of the season away from home.
Atlanta at Cleveland 8:50 PM ET
The Atlanta Braves' series opener at the Cleveland Indians was rained out Friday, providing them an opportunity to rest a bullpen that has struggled mightily. The Braves and Indians will play a traditional doubleheader Saturday and it’s likely Atlanta’s 26th man will be another arm for a relief corps that began the weekend with a 5.13 ERA, tied for second in the National League in most walks (40) and sagging confidence after ruining three strong outings by the rotation against Arizona.
Seattle at LA Angels 9:07 PM ET
The Seattle Mariners look to improve their major league-best road record to 11-1 on Saturday, when they visit the Los Angeles Angels for the third contest of their four-game series. Seattle belted four homers in Friday's 5-3 victory to raise its total to a league-leading 49 blasts.
