Preview Roundups
April 14, 2019
Baltimore at Boston 1:05 PM ET
Chris Davis was close to breaking through over his last several at-bats and finally snapped the longest hitless drought in major league history in fine fashion on Saturday. The Baltimore Orioles will try to ride that momentum to consecutive wins when they visit the Boston Red Sox for the third of a four-game series on Sunday.
Chi. White Sox at NY Yankees 1:05 PM ET
As the New York Yankees slowly get players back off the injured list, the outlook for the season begins to look a whole lot better. Sparked by the momentum generated from one returnee, the Yankees will try to make it back-to-back wins when they host the Chicago White Sox on Sunday in the rubber match of a three-game series.
Tampa Bay at Toronto 1:07 PM ET
The Toronto Blue Jays received their best pitching performance in eight contests last time out and it gave them a chance to win a series for the first time this season Sunday when the Tampa Bay Rays visit for the rubber match of a three-game set. Clay Buchholz and four relievers frustrated the Rays on Saturday in a 3-1 victory after Blue Jays' pitching allowed 40 runs combined during a 1-6 slump.
Philadelphia at Miami 1:10 PM ET
It was only a matter of time before the slumbering bats of the Miami Marlins broke out of an offensive funk that had produced only two runs in 36 innings. After ending a five-game slide by establishing season highs in runs and hits with a 10-3 rout of visiting Philadelphia, the Marlins will look to post their first series win against the visiting Phillies on Sunday afternoon.
Pittsburgh at Washington 1:35 PM ET
Late home runs have been the key to the first two games of the series between the Washington Nationals and the Pittsburgh Pirates this weekend, with the last team to leave the yard earning the win in each contest. Both teams will try to build an earlier lead when the Nationals host the Pirates for the rubber match of a three-game series on Sunday.
Detroit at Minnesota 2:10 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins have gotten the better of the Detroit Tigers dating back to last season and they seek a sweep of the abbreviated two-game series between the teams Sunday in Minneapolis. After Friday's series opener was postponed due to snow, the Twins used a four-run rally in the third inning and wore out the Tigers with seven walks overall in a 4-3 win Saturday afternoon.
Cleveland at Kansas City 2:15 PM ET
Whit Merrifield recently suggested the Kansas City Royals' luck was bound to change for the better after losing by one run five times during their 10-game slide. The 30-year-old second baseman has been proven right so far this weekend as the Royals attempt to complete a three-game sweep of the visiting Cleveland Indians on Sunday.
LA Angels at Chi. Cubs 2:20 PM ET

After some fireworks to end the middle contest of their three-game interleague series, the host Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Angels get back together Sunday for the rubber match. The Angels evened the set Saturday with a 6-5 victory in which Chicago's Kyle Schwarber was called out on a controversial check swing to leave the tying run at third base.

Oakland at Texas 3:05 PM ET
The Oakland Athletics' road trip got off to a bad start, but the team has turned things around thanks to its offense. Following Saturday's rainout, Oakland looks to post its fifth straight victory and complete a two-game sweep of the host Texas Rangers on Sunday.
Colorado at San Francisco 4:05 PM ET
Kevin Pillar is beginning to pay big dividends after struggling in his first few games with the San Francisco Giants and the center fielder hopes to lead his new team to a four-game home sweep of the last-place Colorado Rockies on Sunday. Pillar was 2-for-16 in his first five games after being acquired from Toronto, but has launched four homers and knocked in 12 runs in the past six contests after going deep in Saturday’s 5-2 win.
St. Louis at Cincinnati 4:10 PM ET
An eight-game losing streak that included four shutout defeats was not the start envisioned by the Cincinnati Reds, who are trying to end a run of four consecutive last-place finishes in the National League Central. The Reds, however, have rebounded with four straight wins and go for a two-game sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday in Monterrey, Mexico.
Milwaukee at LA Dodgers 4:10 PM ET
The Milwaukee Brewers continue to exact a bit of revenge from the Los Angeles Dodgers as they try for a three-game sweep Sunday at Dodger Stadium. Milwaukee, which lost the 2018 National League Championship Series to Los Angeles in seven games, prevailed 4-1 on Saturday to hand the pitching-challenged Dodgers their sixth straight loss.
San Diego at Arizona 4:10 PM ET
The San Diego Padres, off to their best start since 1998, aim for a sweep of their four-game series Sunday against the host Arizona Diamondbacks and ace Zack Greinke. San Diego has won four straight and sits atop the National League West standings with an 11-5 record.
Houston at Seattle 4:10 PM ET
The Houston Astros figured their winning streak wouldn't last through the weekend as they got set to kick off their eight-game road trip with three contests against the surprising - and equally hot - Seattle Mariners. The streak still is alive as the Astros try to complete a series sweep when they visit the Mariners on Sunday.
NY Mets at Atlanta 7:05 PM ET
One of the biggest storylines in baseball last season was the lack of run support the New York Mets provided Jacob deGrom during his Cy Young winning campaign, but so far in 2019 they have produced plenty of offense for their ace entering Sunday’s series finale at the Atlanta Braves. New York has scored 16 runs in deGrom’s first three starts, after scoring three runs or fewer in 21 of his 32 starts a season ago - producing one run or fewer on nine occasions.
