Logan Thompson made 36 saves and also stopped all three shootout tries and Jack Eichel celebrated his 27th birthday by scoring the game-deciding goal in the shootout as the visiting Vegas Golden Knights rallied to defeat the Los Angeles Kings 4-3 on Saturday night.

Mark Stone, Michael Amadio and William Carrier also scored goals for Vegas, which rallied from a 2-0 deficit to extend its season-opening point streak to nine games (8-0-1).

Drew Doughty, Alex Laferriere and Trevor Lewis scored goals for Los Angeles, which had a two-game winning streak snapped and also took its fourth home loss in five games this season. Cam Talbot finished with 27 saves.

Eichel, going after Thompson made a pad save on Trevor Moore to open the shootout, fired a wrist shot past Talbot's glove side for what proved to be the game-decider. Thompson made a pad save on Pierre-Luc Dubois in the second round and sealed the win with a glove save of a Kevin Fiala try in the third round.

Los Angeles took a 1-0 lead at the 13:11 mark of the first period when Laferriere buried a rebound of a Dubois shot.

The Kings made it 2-0 early in the second period with another rebound goal, this one by Lewis, who was parked in front of the crease and backhanded a shot through Thompson's pads for his second goal of the season.

But the Golden Knights rallied to tie it at 2-2 later in the period. Amadio slapped in a rebound under Talbot's glove and inside the right post, and Carrier finished an odd-man rush with a snap shot from the left circle off the far post and in for his first goal of the season.

Stone then gave Vegas its first lead with a power-play goal at the 6:26 mark of the third period. Jonathan Marchessault set up the score with a pass from behind the net to Stone cutting down the crease. Stone then roofed a snap shot past Talbot's blocker side.

The Kings pulled Talbot for an extra attacker with 2:08 remaining and Doughty tied it at 3-3 with a one-timer from just inside the blue line through traffic with 1:03 to go.

Anze Kopitar played in his 1,300th career game for the Kings, the first player in team history to accomplish that feat.
