Anton Forsberg made 29 saves as the host Ottawa Senators earned a 4-1 win over the Sabres on Wednesday, sending Buffalo to its seventh straight loss.

Tim Stutzle had a goal and an assist and Jake Sanderson added two assists for the Senators, who won for the second time in their past three games after a seven-game skid. Austin Watson, Brady Tkachuk and Alex DeBrincat provided Ottawa's other goals.

Tage Thompson scored for the Sabres.

Buffalo goalie Eric Comrie gave up two goals on 24 shots before leaving the game late in the second period with an injury. Craig Anderson yielded one goal on 15 shots in relief. It was Anderson's first time back in Ottawa since departing after the 2019-20 season.

Watson gave Ottawa a 1-0 lead at 9:45 of the first period. His shot from above the circles hit the stick of Sabres forward Jeff Skinner, but Watson got to the loose puck just outside the right circle and beat Comrie far side.

Thompson connected on Buffalo's fifth power play of the game to tie it 1-1 at 6:41 of the second period, blasting a one-timer from the left circle. The goal, his 12th of the season, extended his point streak to six games, matching a career high. Thompson has five goals and eight points during that stretch.

Comrie was shaken up midway through the middle frame when Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin hit Ottawa forward Mathieu Joseph into the goalie, knocking him down. Comrie appeared to grab his leg but remained in the game.

Tkachuk put the Senators ahead 2-1 on the power play at 9:57 of the middle period. A point shot by Sanderson hit the end boards and bounced right to Tkachuk at the edge of the crease for a backhand sweep by Comrie's left leg.

Comrie left the game with 6:52 remaining in the second and did not return.

DeBrincat scored on a one-timer to make it 3-1 at 14:21 of the third period, and Stutzle scored into an empty net with 41 seconds remaining for the 4-1 final.
