Patrick Kane had a goal and an assist and Marc-Andre Fleury made 31 saves to lead the Chicago Blackhawks to a 3-1 road victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Monday.

With the game tied 1-1 at 9:42 of the third period, Alex DeBrincat took a loose puck at center ice and skated into the slot before wiring a wrist shot past Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck.

It was DeBrincat's team-high 28th goal of the season, as the Chicago forward continues to sit among the league leaders. DeBrincat also leads the Blackhawks with four game-winning goals.

Brandon Hagel sealed Chicago's win with an empty-net goal in the final minute of play, with both Kane and Fleury recording assists.

Kane has 10 points (three goals, seven assists) over his past seven games.

Though the Jets outshot the Blackhawks by a 32-24 margin, Fleury was the difference in net. Among his many big stops was a highlight-reel robbery of a glove save on a Kyle Connor shot in the third period.

Mark Scheifele tallied the Jets' only goal, extending his goal-scoring streak to four games.

The Jets' best chance of the opening 40 minutes came at 5:10 of the second period, when Adam Lowry forced a turnover and had a breakaway.

Fleury made the save but not without controversy, as the Chicago goaltender lost control of his stick while breaking up Lowry's chance. Had the referee ruled that Fleury intentionally used his stick to impede the play, Lowry would have been awarded a penalty shot.

The game was scoreless until midway through the second period, when Kane's goal rewarded the Blackhawks for their pressure in Winnipeg's zone.

Scheifele finally solved Fleury 6:17 into the third period, with the help of a fortunate bounce. A Nate Schmidt point shot took a high deflection in front of the Blackhawks' net and handcuffed Fleury, and Scheifele was in position to put the puck into the vacated net.

Hellebuyck stopped 21 of 23 shots for the Jets.
