Leon Draisaitl scored twice for a second consecutive game during a three-point outing while Connor McDavid netted two assists to lead the host Edmonton Oilers to a 5-2 victory over the Nashville Predators on Wednesday.

Kailer Yamamoto, Devin Shore and Jesse Puljujarvi also scored for the Oilers, who received a 31-save performance from goaltender Mikko Koskinen to give the Western Conference leaders their eighth victory in nine outings. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins also collected two assists to give him a league-leading 13 helpers.

Matt Duchene and Ryan Johansen replied for Nashville, which was without top-line forward Filip Forsberg, who is out on a week-to-week basis after being injured during Tuesday's game in Calgary. Goalie Connor Ingram stopped 25 shots as the Predators saw their four-game winning streak snapped.

Draisaitl leads the NHL with 20 points, one more than McDavid, who has recorded at least one point in all nine Edmonton games.

They teamed up on Draisaitl's power-play goal -- a one-timer from the right faceoff dot -- to open the scoring at the 6:43 mark. With at least one power-play goal in all nine games to start the season, they tied a franchise record.

Duchene replied 11 seconds later, burying a top-corner shot from left circle to tie the game, but the hosts dominated the scoresheet after that.

Yamamoto scored the go-ahead goal 87 seconds into the second period, and then Draisaitl potted his second of the night four minutes into the third period to break the game open.

Shore made it a 4-1 game at the 4:59 mark of the third period with a shot set up by Warren Foegele after he stole the puck. With an assist on the goal, Tyson Barrie recorded his 400th NHL point.

Johansen's power-play goal with 4:01 remaining, a one-timer from the top of the right circle, made it a two-goal game, but Puljujarvi netted an empty-net goal 51 seconds later to round out the scoring. Draisaitl actually passed up the opportunity to net the hat trick, opting to feed his linemate instead.
