Patrik Laine scored pair of goals, including the decisive tally with 7:43 to play in the second period as the Winnipeg Jets beat the Detroit Red Wings 4-3 on Friday night at Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Laine (33 goals) fired a wrist shot past Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard's stick-side blocker to put the Jets up 4-2 in the middle period. Trevor Daley (8) scored 5:29 into the third, but Winnipeg held onto its lead from there.

Dustin Byfuglien (5) and Ben Chiarot (1) each had goals and Connor Hellebuyck made 30 saves for the Jets, who bounced back from a 6-5 loss to Nashville at home on Tuesday and have now won three of their last four games and six of eight.

Anthony Mantha (21) and Niklas Kronwall (3) also scored goals for Detroit and Howard had 38 saves. Detroit lost its second straight after a 2-1 setback at St. Louis on Wednesday and have dropped five of seven.

Detroit's Mike Green returned after missing seven games with a neck injury, but he didn't record any points.

Kronwall opened the scoring for Detroit with a power-play goal with 7:14 left in the opening period. Laine tied it with his first goal with 6:36 on the clock, and Chiarot's first goal of the season 26 seconds made it 2-1 Winnipeg.

Byfuglien's goal with 13:35 remaining in the second gave the Jets a two-goal advantage before Mantha's tally just over a minute later again made it a one-goal game.

Gustav Nyquist had two goals in the Red Wings' 5-1 rout of the Jets in their first meeting of the season on Dec. 5 in Detroit.

Winnipeg embarks upon a six-game road trip starting Sunday at Carolina. Detroit continues its five-game trip Sunday against Minnesota.
