SUNRISE, Fla. -- Dylan Larkin and the Detroit Red Wings put on an award-winning comeback against the Florida Panthers on Saturday night.

In front of Florida's franchise-record crowd of 20,817, including Oscar-winning actor and new Panthers fan Kevin Spacey, Larkin tied the game in the third period with a goal and recorded the primary assist on Luke Glendening's game-winner as the Red Wings beat Florida 5-3 at BB&T Center.

Pavel Datsyuk scored twice and Tomas Tatar also scored for

Detroit (36-25-11), who rallied from a 3-1 deficit by scoring four unanswered goals.

Niklas Kronwall and Justin Abdelkader had two assists.

Brad Richards, Mike Green, Datsyuk, Larkin, Gustav Nyquist and Jonathan Ericsson also recorded assists.

Nick Bjugstad, Vincent Trocheck and Teddy Purcell scored for Florida (40-23-9).

Jiri Hudler, Reilly Smith, Bjugstad and Jussi Jokinen also had assists.

Starting his second straight game, goaltender Jimmy Howard made 23 saves for the Red Wings.

Florida's Roberto Luongo had 25 saves

Down 3-2, the Red Wings tied it when Larkin scored his 21st goal by beating Luongo on the short side at 3:52 of the third.

"It was a set play on a face-off ... I got a fortunate bounce right on my stick, and I saw Luongo cheating a bit," Larkin said. "He cheating (on the) pass, so I just ripped it. I was lucky it went in."

Glendening deflected in a wrist shot by Larkin from along the boards at 8:39 of the third for his sixth goal.

"I just threw it on net and (Glendening) did a great job being there," Larkin said. "To continue being successful, we've got to get to those areas and win battles like he did."

Spacey was a guest of the Panthers.

The Panthers adopted a "Spacey in Space" hoodie as its game trophy going to the top player. The novelty hoodie features the actor's head floating in the galaxy.

Sitting behind Florida's bench, the cameras cut to Spacey, whose image was flashed on the jumbotron during a stoppage in play.

"It was pretty cool seeing Kevin Spacey in the stands," Larkin said. "The crowd got pretty crazy, so that was a cool moment. I don't watch House of Cards or anything like that, but he's a great actor. I'm a fan."

Datsyuk added an empty-net goal for the final margin at 19:23.

Clinging to the Eastern Conference's last playoff spot, Detroit received good news earlier in the day when Pittsburgh won 4-1 over Philadelphia.

The Flyers trail the Red Wings by three points in pursuit of the second wild card spot.

"It was great," Detroit coach Jeff Blashill said. "Obviously the fans here are excited about what this team has done, and they should be. Gerard Gallant has done a great job and they’ve got a really good team, so they're excited.

"Our fans travel everywhere. The unique and great thing about being a Red Wing is you get to see your fans everywhere you go and so our thought our fans were great. It was a great, great atmosphere in the building and I thought it was a great hockey game.”

Florida broke a 1-1 tie in the second period when Jokinen stole the

puck from Datsyuk just outside Florida's offensive zone.

Jokinen slipped a pass by defenseman Brendan Smith to Trocheck, who deked Howard and slid a backhander between the goalie's legs for his 22nd goal and a 2-1 lead at 7:08.

Purcell made it 3-1 when he recorded his 13th goal and 100th of his career by putting in his own rebound on a carom shot off Howard at 12:48.

Datsyuk trimmed Florida's lead to 3-2 when he scored his 15th goal of the season -- Detroit's second on the power play in the game -- from the low slot with Abdelkader screening Luongo at 19:49.

"We were leading 3-1, the game in our hands, but we let them score a couple of goals and they got the momentum back," Aleksander Barkov of the Panthers said.

Detroit controlled play early in the first period and outshot Florida 6-0, but the Panthers tallied on their third shot at 10:49 after a turnover by Ericsson.

Bjugstad stole Ericsson's clearing attempt and started a give-and-go with Hudler, who fed Bjugstad for his 13th goal and a 1-0 lead.

Detroit answered on the power play at 1:35 -- just four seconds into the man advantage after former Red Wing defenseman Jakub Kindl was called for hooking -- when Tatar tipped in Richards' long shot for his 20th goal to tie it 1-1.

"A couple goal lead, those seem to be tough for us lately to hold on to," Bjugstad said. "Gave up a couple of power-play goals; that'll cost you, too. Sometimes it comes down to special teams.

"When you get in a run-and-gun game with those guys, it's tough to win. They've got a lot of good players. You want to keep it tight against those guys. There were a few lapses on our part; that's kind of what changed the game."

NOTES: Detroit scratched RW Tomas Jurco, LW Teemu Pulkkinen, D Alexey Marchenko and G Petr Mrazek. ... Mrazek (flu), missing his second game, shut out the Panthers 3-0 on Feb. 8.
