Carl Soderberg recorded a goal and an assist while Loui Eriksson also tallied as the Bruins erased a two-goal deficit in the third period to beat the Red Wings for the fourth straight time. Petr Mrazek made 22 saves in his fourth straight start but couldn't handle Trotman's soft wrist shot from the bottom of the right faceoff circle late in the third.

Detroit doubled up the Bruins with a 14-7 advantage in shots over the first 20 minutes but were unable to beat Rask until midway through the second period. Defenseman Danny DeKeyser's shot caromed off the end boards to the front of the net and Glendening lifted a backhander over the right pad of Rask.

The Red Wings doubled their the lead 2:52 into the third as Weiss popped home a rebound from the doorstep during a power play, but the Bruins responded with a pair of goals 2:14 apart to tie it. Soderberg buried a juicy rebound while on the man advantage before Smith drew Mrazek out of the crease and set up Eriksson for an easy shot into an open net at 7:19.
