Kings 4, Rangers 2: Marian Gaborik continued to torment his former team, scoring to put visiting Los Angeles ahead to stay en route to a decisive victory over New York in a rematch of the Stanley Cup final.

Jeff Carter netted his 26th goal while defensemen Robyn Regehr and Jake Muzzin also tallied as the Kings made it two straight wins on their five-game road trip to draw even in points with Calgary for third place in the Pacific Division. Anze Kopitar collected a pair of assists and Jonathan Quick turned aside 34 shots for the reigning Stanley Cup champions.

Mats Zuccarello scored in the first minute and rookie Kevin Hayes tallied late in the third period for the Metropolitan Division-leading Rangers, who suffered only their second loss in nine games. Cam Talbot (31 saves) fell to 15-4-3 since starter Henrik Lundqvist was injured.

New York received an early strike for the second straight game as J.T. Miller emerged from a crowd in the right corner and sent a pass to Zuccarello, who beat Quick from the slot 51 seconds into the contest. Regehr knotted it midway thought the period with a shot from the left point that appeared to clip Rangers defenseman Keith Yandle.

The Kings forged ahead 4 1/2 minutes into the second as Justin Williams intercepted a pass by Talbot and fed Kopitar, who quickly set up Gaborik for a shot into an open net. Carter made it 3-1 just 65 seconds into the third, tapping in a crossing pass by Dwight King, before Muzzin beat Talbot high with a laser with 14 1/2 minutes left.
