Senators 6, Bruins 4: Kyle Turris scored twice and added an assist while Bobby Ryan netted the tiebreaking goal with 8 1/2 minutes left in the third period as Ottawa won its fifth straight to close within two points of visiting Boston for the second wild card in the Eastern Conference.

Milan Michalek recorded a goal and two assists, David Legwand scored for the first time in a month and Jean-Gabriel Pageau added a short-handed tally as the Senators improved to 13-1-1 in their last 15. Andrew Hammond (31 saves) had his NHL record-tying streak of 12 games to start his career without allowing more than two goals snapped but still improved to 12-0-1 for the Senators, who have a game in hand on the Bruins.

Rookie Ryan Spooner registered his second two-goal performance against Ottawa in 10 days while Carl Soderberg and defenseman Torey Krug chipped in with a goal and an assist apiece for Boston, which dropped its third in a row. David Pastrnak notched two assists and Tuukka Rask turned aside 26 shots in losing consecutive starts for the first time since Feb. 8-13.

The tone was set in the opening minute as Turris scored 19 seconds into the contest and Soderberg answered 40 seconds later before Spooner's redirection at 4:04 put Boston in front, but Michalek converted from the bottom of the right faceoff circle with 4:57 left in the opening period to tie it. Legwand buried a feed from the right hash marks 3:11 into the second before the teams combined for three goals in 95 seconds.

Spooner continued his magic at Canadian Tire Centre with a one-timer from in close during a 5-on-3 advantage, but Ottawa answered 15 seconds later as Erik Condra (two assists) intercepted a pass to set up Pageau alone in front before Krug knocked home a rebound in front with 6:43 left in the period. Ryan's go-ahead tally came on a shot from along the right-wing boards that caromed high off Rask before bouncing off the skate of Boston captain Zdeno Chara and in.
