Kings 1, Coyotes 0: Rookie Andy Andreoff scored his first NHL goal late in the second period and Jonathan Quick registered his franchise-best 37th career shutout as host Los Angeles moved into the second wild card in the Western Conference.

Quick turned aside 25 shots for his second shutout in three games and sixth of the season as the Kings leapfrogged Winnipeg for the last playoff slot. Los Angeles improved to 5-1-1 in its last seven games to climb into a tie in points with Calgary for third place in the Pacific Division.

Mike Smith made 34 saves while absorbing his league-worst 35th defeat for spiraling Arizona, which was blanked for the 10th time this season - second only to Buffalo (11). The Coyotes fell to 1-14-1 in their last 16 games, a span in while they have scored only 19 goals.

Jordan Nolan set up the decisive tally by fending off defenseman John Moore, who fell down on the play and couldn't regain his balance. Nolan sent a cross-slot pass to Andreoff, who slid a shot under the left pad of Smith from the bottom of the right circle for his first career point with 65 seconds left in the second.

Quick was not tested much until making a toe save on Arizona's first power play late in the second period. He preserved the shutout with nine third-period saves to improve to 13-3-1 in his last 17 starts.
