Senators 4, Canadiens 2: Mark Stone collected a goal and two assists while Andrew Hammond made 42 saves in his first NHL start to lead host Ottawa over Montreal.

Milan Michalek recorded a goal and an assist while Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Kyle Turris also scored for the Senators, who won for the second time in six home contests this month (2-3-1). Captain Erik Karlsson added two assists to give him nine points (one goal) during his five-game streak.

Defenseman Nathan Beaulieu scored his first career goal and Max Pacioretty added his team-high 27th tally for the Canadiens, who saw their six-game point streak come to an end. Dustin Tokarski stopped 35 shots in his third start of the month.

Pageau redirected a pinpoint feed from Karlsson around Tokarski with 1:47 remaining in the second period to give Ottawa a 2-1 lead. Stone banged home a loose puck sitting behind Tokarski after a point shot by Karlsson during a power play 9:27 into the third to provide some insurance, which proved necessary as Beaulieu’s shot from the point beat Hammond nearly five minutes later.

Montreal's Brandon Prust hit the post on an open-net opportunity in the first period and defenseman P.K. Subban prevented a chance at the other end by blocking Pageau’s shot to keep the score level after 20 minutes. Michalek and Pacioretty traded goals eight seconds apart to open the scoring midway through the second period.
