Senators 2, Sabres 1: Milan Michalek snapped a tie with 7:45 remaining in the third period as visiting Ottawa ended its three-game losing streak.

Captain Erik Karlsson also scored for the Senators, who improved to 10-11-4 since Dave Cameron replaced the fired Paul MacLean behind the bench. Robin Lehner turned aside 35 shots, including all 21 he faced in the second period.

Defenseman Tyler Myers netted the lone goal for the Sabres, who fell to 1-3-0 on their five-game homestand. Jhonas Enroth finished with 24 saves as Buffalo dropped to 1-2-0 in the four-game season series.

Ottawa grabbed the lead during a power play with 7:42 remaining in the first period as Karlsson unleashed a blast from the left point that deflected off Buffalo All-Star Zemgus Girgensons' stick and past a screened Enroth. The Sabres answered with their own man-advantage goal at 5:08 of the third, when Myers beat Lehner - who also was screened - with a snap shot from the blue line.

The Senators regained the lead just over seven minutes later. Enroth denied defenseman Patrick Wiercioch's shot from the top of the right faceoff circle, but Michalek chipped in the rebound from the doorstep for his eighth of the season.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Ottawa All-Star RW Bobby Ryan, who has scored four of his 14 goals this season against the Sabres, was a late scratch due to general soreness. ... Buffalo appeared to knot the contest with 3:52 left in the second period as D Mike Weber ripped a shot from the left circle past Lehner, but the goal was waved off as Sabres LW Marcus Foligno made contact with the goaltender on the play. ... The Sabres recorded season highs for shots in a period (21 in the second) and a game (36) after registering a total of 10 in Sunday's loss to the New York Islanders.
