Wild 1, Flames 0: Devan Dubnyk turned aside 30 shots for his second shutout in six starts as visiting Minnesota edged Calgary.

Red-hot Zach Parise provided Dubnyk with the only goal he needed at the nine-minute mark of the first period as the Wild improved to 4-1-1 in their last six. Dubnyk's third shutout of the season and 11th career pulled Minnesota within five points of the Flames for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Jonas Hiller was the hard-luck loser despite making 31 saves for Calgary, which suffered its first shutout defeat of the season. It was the fourth home loss in five games for the Flames.

Thomas Vanek forced a turnover by Calgary captain Mark Giordano and set up Parise in front for an easy conversion at 8:59 of the opening period. The goal, the sixth in six games for Parise, came two nights after he had a tooth knocked out and needed stitches to close a cut on his lip from getting hit in the mouth with a puck in Edmonton.

Hiller kept the deficit at one goal by denying Jason Pominville from the doorstep just past the five-minute mark of the third period before Dubnyk turned away rookie Johnny Gaudreau just over a minute later. Dubnyk preserved the shutout by stopping Paul Byron on a breakaway moments later and improved to 4-1-0 since being acquired from Arizona.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Vanek collected his 300th career assist on the tally by Parise, who reached 20 goals for the seventh time in his career. ... Flames C Sean Monahan was held off the scoresheet, ending his point streak at five games. ... Wild D Matt Dumba, who grew up in Calgary and was recalled from Iowa of the American Hockey League earlier Thursday, registered one shot in 13:07 of ice time. ... Wild G Darcy Kuemper had a rocky first start in his conditioning stint with Iowa, getting pulled after giving up five goals on 28 shots.
