Wild 2, Oilers 1: Charlie Coyle scored on a breakaway with 4:23 left in the third period to lift Minnesota to its ninth win in its last 10 trips to Edmonton.

Coyle picked off a pass in the neutral zone and busted down the left wing, skating past the end line before reaching back to tuck the puck inside the left post to give the Wild only their third win in 11 games (3-6-2). Nino Niederreiter added a first-period goal and Devan Dubnyk turned aside 23 shots to improve to 4-0-0 against his former team this season.

Boyd Gordon scored the lone goal for Edmonton, which was denied in its bid to win three in a row for just the second time this season. Viktor Fasth made 27 saves in defeat.

Justin Fontaine set up the first goal by stripping Nail Yakupov of the puck in front of the Oilers' net and sliding a pass to Niederreiter, who beat Fasth top shelf to end a 17-game drought dating to Dec. 16. Dubnyk preserved the slim edge with a brilliant sprawling save to deny defenseman Justin Schultz on a breakaway midway through the second period.

Edmonton pulled even with 2:44 left in the session as Gordon's wraparound attempt caromed off the skate off Minnesota's Kyle Brodziak and into the net. Teddy Purcell had a superb chance to give the Oilers the lead but shot wide on a point-blank chance midway through the third, opening the door for Coyle to settle it with his sixth goal.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Wild LW Zach Parise took a puck to the mouth in the first period and appeared to be picking a tooth off the ice before heading to the locker room. He returned for the second session. ... Oilers LW Taylor Hall, who is tied for the team lead in points (29), sat out the game after taking a shot off his leg during Monday's practice. ... Wild C Mikael Granlund, sidelined since Dec. 27 with a broken wrist, recorded three shots on goal in his return to the lineup.
