Blues 3, Avalanche 2 (OT): T.J. Oshie decided not to wait for the shootout to become the hero, scoring 63 seconds into overtime to extend visiting St. Louis' winning streak to four games.

Oshie, who has become a master of the bonus format, took a pass from defenseman Barret Jackman and wristed a shot from the top of the slot that beat Calvin Pickard high to the glove side. Kevin Shattenkirk recorded a goal and an assist, fellow blue-liner Alex Pietrangelo also scored and Jake Allen made 23 saves.

Defenseman Erik Johnson netted both goals for the Avalanche, who completed a 1-2-0 homestand. Captain Gabriel Landeskog set up both tallies and Pickard turned aside 39 shots as Colorado lost for the fifth time in six contests.

Johnson opened the scoring during a power play with six minutes left in the first period, beating Allen with a blast from the left point. Shattenkirk answered 82 seconds later with a man-advantage goal of his own as he pinched to grab a loose puck and fired it past Pickard from low in the right faceoff circle.

Pietrangelo gave St. Louis the lead 8:16 into the second, when he unleashed a rising wrist shot from the right point that sailed just under the crossbar. Johnson capped his first career two-goal performance with 1:24 remaining in the session as he accepted a cross-slot pass from Nathan MacKinnon and ripped a shot past Allen.
