Stars 4, Devils 3: Red-hot Tyler Seguin scored a goal and set up another as host Dallas won for only the second time in seven games.

Jason Spezza matched Seguin with a goal and an assist while defenseman Trevor Daley and Shawn Horcoff scored 1:57 apart late in the second period as the Stars improved to 5-1-1 in their last seven at home. Antoine Roussel collected a pair of assists and Kari Lehtonen turned aside 28 shots.

Defensemen Jon Merrill and Eric Gelinas scored for skidding New Jersey, which also got a late tally from Scott Gomez in absorbing its ninth defeat in 11 games (2-6-3). Cory Schneider stopped 29-of-33 shots over two periods before being replaced by Keith Kincaid, who made three saves in the third.

Seguin scored for the fifth time during his four-game goal-scoring streak on a one-timer from the slot 14 1/2 minutes into the contest and Spezza knocked home the rebound of his wraparound attempt 2 1/2 minutes later. Merrill cut the deficit in half during a power play with a shot from the left faceoff circle at 4:26 of the second and Gelinas tied it 3:20 later with a wrist shot through a screen from the left point.

Dallas went ahead to stay with 5:05 left in the session on Daley's one-timer from the right faceoff dot and Horcoff doubled the lead just under two minutes later, finishing a 3-on-2 rush by stuffing a feed from Vernon Fiddler between Schneider's pads. The Devils dominated the final 20 minutes and got within 4-3 on Gomez's rebound goal with 67 seconds remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Seguin boosted his league-leading total to 23 goals with his 11th tally in 11 games. ...
