Lightning 5, Sabres 0: Captain Steven Stamkos collected a goal and two assists while Ben Bishop notched his first shutout of the season as host Tampa Bay earned three points in the home-and-home series.

Brenden Morrow, Brett Connolly and defensemen Jason Garrison and Radko Gudas also scored for the Lightning, who extended their point streak to six games (5-0-1). Blue-liner Andrej Sustr added a pair of assists and Bishop turned aside 13 shots for his fifth consecutive victory and ninth career blanking.

Jhonas Enroth made 30 saves as the Sabres lost for the second time in their last eight contests, managing only three shots in the second period. Buffalo edged Tampa Bay 2-1 in a shootout at home on Tuesday.

Gudas’ shot from the right point found its way between Enroth’s pads 2:33 into the contest to open the scoring. The Lightning held the Sabres without a shot for the first 16:18 of the second session while scoring three times, starting when Stamkos swept home Ryan Callahan’s backhanded cross-crease pass at 4:28.

Morrow pushed the lead to 3-0 just 71 seconds later by knocking in a loose puck after Jonathan Drouin’s feed into the crease, and Garrison’s blast from the high slot got by Enroth at 13:40. The third period featured two fights, 106 penalty minutes and Connolly’s power-play tally with 65 seconds to play.
