Blackhawks 4, Blues 1: Kris Versteeg snapped a tie early in the third period before setting up two goals by Patrick Kane as host Chicago used a 4:20 spurt to extend its winning streak to four games.

Marcus Kruger also scored for the Blackhawks, who were back home following a 5-1-0 road trip. Antti Raanta turned aside 40 shots en route to his first win in three career decisions against St. Louis (1-1-1).

Defenseman Ian Cole netted the lone goal for the Blues, who lost for just the second time in seven contests. Jake Allen made 29 saves as St. Louis dropped to 1-1-0 on its four-game road trip.

With the game tied after two periods, captain Jonathan Toews set up Versteeg for a shot from the right hash marks 59 seconds into the third that broke the deadlock. Versteeg made a cross-slot pass from above the left faceoff circle to Kane, who beat Allen from the right dot less than two minutes later and slid the puck past the netminder on a short breakaway at 5:19 to complete the burst.

Kruger opened the scoring with 4:03 remaining in the first session, beating Allen from the inner edge of the right circle during a 2-on-1 rush created when Brandon Saad stripped Cole of the puck at the other end. Cole atoned for his miscue at 12:38 of the second by converting Patrik Berglund's feed from the right side of the crease.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Kane has collected seven goals and seven assists over his last eight games. ... Future Hall-of-Fame G Martin Brodeur, who signed a one-year contract with the Blues on Tuesday, dressed as Allen's backup and is expected to make his first start Thursday in Nashville. ... Chicago was without G Corey Crawford, who is expected to miss up to three weeks with a lower-body injury. The veteran wore a walking boot on his left leg when he met the media after Tuesday's practice and said he was injured at a concert.
