Ducks 2, Coyotes 1: Patrick Maroon scored his first goal of the season and had an assist during the second period as host Anaheim skated to its second straight victory.

Defenseman Sami Vatanen had an assist to extend his point streak to three games and Frederik Andersen finished with 26 saves.

Defenseman Keith Yandle scored for the Coyotes, who finished 1-2-0 on their three-game road trip. Mike Smith turned aside 28 shots and fell to 0-5-1 in his last six outings and 4-11-1 on the season.

Smith stumbled while attempting to play the puck behind the net, leading to the first goal at 14:08 of the second period. Kesler quickly gained possession of the puck and backhanded a centering feed to Palmieri, who wired a shot into the gaping net.

Anaheim doubled the advantage 3:12 later as Vatanen's shot from the point was denied by Smith, but Maroon gained inside position on Arizona defenseman Michael Stone and cleaned up the juicy rebound. Yandle trimmed the deficit by skating into the slot and sliding the puck under Andersen's pad at 8:56 of the third, but the Coyotes were unable to net the equalizer.
