Zibanejad deposited Ryan's centering feed past Elliott from in close with 3:37 remaining in the session, but Tarasenko answered 30 seconds later by wiring a shot from the left circle inside the right post for his team-leading 12th goal.

Steen deflected defenseman Jay Bouwmeester's shot from the point past Lehner to give St. Louis a 3-1 advantage 12:45 into the second. T.J. Oshie failed to convert a short-handed breakaway before Karlsson's seeing-eye shot from the point found its way past a screened Elliott with 4:39 remaining in the session, but Ottawa failed to net the equalizer.
