Martin Jones turned aside 25 shots in his third start of the season for the Kings, who lost in regulation at home for the first time since opening night - when they also were shut out by San Jose. Los Angeles was blanked for the fourth time this season after scoring five goals in each of its previous two contests.

Dallas opened the scoring with 6:47 remaining in the first period on Garbutt's third goal of the season and second in two games. After Jones stopped his shot from the high slot, Garbutt - who snapped a tie with a short-handed goal with 1:16 remaining against Arizona on Tuesday - got to the rebound in the left faceoff circle and fired it past the goaltender.

Spezza doubled the lead at 8:13 of the second, taking a pass from captain Jamie Benn and skating across the top of the slot before ripping the puck past Jones. Lehtonen preserved the shutout with a brilliant save on Jarret Stoll with 6:43 left in the session, reaching back with his glove to snag a shot at a wide-open net from the top of the crease.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Los Angeles D Alec Martinez suffered an undisclosed injury midway through the second period and did not return. ... Dallas LW Travis Moen, acquired from Montreal on Tuesday, was a healthy scratch. ... Stars C Tyler Seguin notched an assist, giving him seven points in his last four games.
