Oilers 3, Sabres 2: Boyd Gordon scored to snap a tie with 4:15 remaining in the third period as Edmonton skated to its first road victory.

Mark Arcobello joined Gordon with a tally in his second straight contest and Iiro Pakarinen netted his first NHL goal while playing in his second career game. Teddy Purcell notched a pair of assists and Viktor Fasth turned aside 29 shots to secure his first win for the Oilers, who entered the contest with an 0-4-1 mark away from home.

Drew Stafford scored for his eighth goal in his last seven meetings with Edmonton and Matt Moulson netted his first of the season for the Sabres, who were thwarted in their bid for their first three-game point streak since Feb. 25-28. Michal Neuvirth turned aside 49 shots - including all 19 in the first period - to suffer the hard-luck loss.

With the score tied at 2-2, Matt Hendricks stopped a puck along the boards before feeding Purcell in the slot. Purcell alertly wired a diagonal feed to the left doorstep for Gordon to redirect home.

Captain Brian Gionta stole the puck behind the net and Moulson converted his short feed from in close to open the scoring 26 seconds into the middle period before Pakarinen cleaned up a rebound of defenseman Mark Fayne's shot from the point just 54 seconds later. Buffalo seized its second lead 6:34 into the third as Stafford beat Fasth from the right circle before Arcobello scored from the slot five minutes later.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Moulson has collected two goals and four assists in six career meetings with the Oilers. ... Buffalo failed its lone opportunity on the power play and fell to 2-for-47 on the season. ... Edmonton captain Andrew Ference sat out the final contest of his three-game suspension. ... Former Buffalo Bills QB Jim Kelly joined Sabres play-by-play broadcaster Rick Jeanneret in participating in the ceremonial puck drop prior to the contest. Both are now cancer-free.
