Canucks 5, Avalanche 2: Nick Bonino tallied twice as visiting Vancouver scored five unanswered goals en route to its fifth win in six games.

Captain Henrik Sedin, Derek Dorsett and Shawn Matthias added a goal apiece while Chris Higgins notched a pair of assists for the Canucks, who have netted at least three tallies in eight of their last nine contests. Ryan Miller made 20 saves en route to his 303rd career victory, tying him with Olaf Kolzig for 26th place on the all-time list.

John Mitchell and Jamie McGinn scored for the Avalanche, whose top-ranked penalty-killing unit kept Vancouver scoreless on four power-play chances and is a perfect 29-for-29 over its last seven games. Semyon Varlamov turned aside 32 shots in his third start in four nights as Colorado fell to 1-2-3 in their last six overall and 0-2-0 on their three-game homestand.

Colorado wasted little time getting on the board as Mitchell beat Miller with a hard wrist shot from the top of the slot 1:15 into the contest. McGinn doubled the lead with 3:27 remaining in the first period, converting a backhand pass from behind the net by Jarome Iginla, but Sedin buried a rebound from the left side of the crease with four seconds left in the middle session to halve the deficit.

Vancouver forged a tie 2:27 into the third, when defenseman Dan Hamhuis' shot from along the left-wing boards deflected off Dorsett and found its way past Varlamov, and Bonino snapped it by knocking Higgins' pass past the netminder from the top of the crease 2:20 later. Bonino added insurance at 9:16, firing the puck under the crossbar from the bottom of the left faceoff circle to complete his first two-goal effort of the season, and Matthias scored from the right circle with 6:50 remaining to seal it.
