Blackhawks 5, Canadiens 0: Kris Versteeg scored a pair of goals and Corey Crawford registered his 11th career shutout as visiting Chicago broke out of an offensive funk to throttle Montreal.

Captain Jonathan Toews netted his 200th career goal and added an assist while Brad Richards and Patrick Kane also tallied for the Blackhawks, who had been limited to two goals or fewer in six of their previous seven games. Crawford turned aside 28 shots for his first win since Oct. 8 while Bryan Bickell and defenseman David Rundblad chipped in with two assists apiece.

Carey Price (27 saves) surrendered five goals for the second straight start as the Canadiens dropped their third in a row. Montreal failed on four power-play chances to fall to 0-for-17 over its last seven games.

Toews, who was reunited with Kane in an effort to jump-start Chicago's struggling offense, opened the scoring on the power play just over 11 minutes into the contest by tipping in defenseman Duncan Keith's point shot. The Blackhawks doubled the lead midway through the second period, when Versteeg threw a puck in front from the bottom of the right faceoff circle that bounced off a defender and past a surprised Price.

Chicago added an insurance tally less than 2 1/2 minutes into the third as Richards redirected a pass from Patrick Sharp for his second tally in three games and put the game out of reach when Toews set up Kane on the doorstep 10 minutes later. Versteeg capped the scoring with a backhander into an open net with 5:14 to play.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Sharp had to be helped to the locker room in the third period with an apparent injury to his right leg. ... Price made a highlight-reel save early in the first period, denying Chicago LW Jeremy Morin's stuff attempt at the post before diving into the crossbar to bat the fluttering puck over the net. ... Rundblad collected his first points in 11 games with the Blackhawks since being acquired from Arizona last season.
