Jets 4, Islanders 3: Captain Andrew Ladd scored two goals, including the go-ahead tally early in the third period, as Winnipeg began a four-game road trip with its second straight victory.

Defensemen Paul Postma and Jacob Trouba netted their first goals of the season and Bryan Little recorded three assists for the Jets, who went 2-for-4 on the power play after entering the game 0-for-9 with the man advantage on the road. Ondrej Pavelec needed to make only 18 saves for the victory.

Brock Nelson recorded a goal and an assist while captain John Tavares and Mikhail Grabovski also scored for New York, which missed an opportunity for a three-game winning streak. Jaroslav Halak stopped 26 shots in his return to the net after sitting for two games.

Nelson opened the scoring 76 seconds into the game by tipping defenseman Johnny Boychuk’s point shot past Pavelec during a power play, but the Jets stormed back in the second period after New York's Nikolay Kulemin was ejected for boarding blue-liner Mark Stuart. Kulemin was assessed a major penalty and a game misconduct, and Winnipeg scored twice on the ensuing five-minute power play.

Trouba extended Winnipeg’s lead at 11:42 of the second, but Tavares and Grabovski scored goals 1:24 apart to tie the game heading into the final 20 minutes. Ladd put the Jets ahead for good 3:31 into the third, when he snapped home the rebound of a shot by Little.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Trouba’s goal was the first point of his sophomore season. … Stuart remained in the game after Kulemin's hit and finished with over 20 minutes of ice time. … The Islanders play their next five games on the road against Western Conference opponents.
