Marcus Johansson and Liam O'Brien tallied for the Capitals, who completed a 1-2-0 road trip. Defenseman Mike Green set up both goals and Justin Peters turned aside 30 shots.

After a scoreless first period, Johansson gave Washington the lead at 5:28 of the second by converting a cross-slot pass by Andre Burakovsky from the left faceoff circle. Sedin tapped in a loose puck at the right post during a power play with six minutes remaining and Bonino beat Peters from the left circle on a 2-on-1 rush 1:22 later to put Vancouver in front.

Sbisa fired a one-timer from above the left circle over the glove of Peters 25 seconds afterward to make it 3-1. O'Brien knocked Green's feed past Miller from the low slot with 2:42 left in the session for his first career tally, but Vrbata fired the puck into an empty net from deep in his own zone for a power-play goal with 61 seconds remaining to seal it.
