Blue Jackets 5, Sharks 4: Mark Letestu scored his second goal of the game on a deflection with 20.7 seconds remaining in the third period as visiting Columbus handed San Jose its third consecutive loss.

Letestu added a short-handed tally, Ryan Johansen also scored twice and Nick Foligno added a goal and an assist as the Blue Jackets erased an early two-goal deficit before scoring twice in the final 8:20 to improve to 1-1-0 on their four-game road trip. Scott Hartnell collected four assists and Sergei Bobrovsky made 33 saves in the win.

Joe Pavelski netted a pair of goals, Logan Couture added a tally and an assist and Adam Burish also scored for the Sharks, who were playing only their second home game. Antti Niemi made 23 saves for San Jose, which dropped the last two contests of its five-game road trip before returning home.

With Columbus trailing 2-0, Johansen ignited a three-goal second period when he barreled down the left side and beat Niemi with a sharp-angle backhander. Artem Anisimov found a cutting Letestu with San Jose on the power play, and he pulled the puck around Niemi with 7:47 left in the session before Johansen pounced on a loose puck in the left faceoff circle and snapped a high wrist shot past Niemi 83 seconds later for a 3-2 edge.

Pavelski netted the equalizer at 2:05 of the third on a wrist shot through a screen from the right dot before an awful giveaway by Columbus defenseman Cody Goloubef set up Couture in the slot for the go-ahead tally with 11:37 remaining. Foligno knotted it off a scramble in front during a power play just over three minutes later, but a potential game-winner by Johansen with 78 seconds left was waved off due to incidental contact in the crease.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Burish ended a 47-game goal-scoring drought with a high wrist shot at 5:11 of the opening period before Pavelski doubled the lead 9 1/2 minutes later, tipping home Couture's shot from the right point while on the power play. ... Sharks C Patrick Marleau reached a milestone on Pavelski's first tally, collecting his 500th career assist. It also was the first power-play goal allowed by Columbus this season. ... The goal and assist by Foligno extended his point streak to six games.
