Rangers 3, Blues 2: Rick Nash scored his second goal with 1:50 remaining in the third period as visiting New York won the season opener for both teams.

Nash added an assist while Chris Kreider scored and set up a goal for the Rangers. Martin St. Louis notched a pair of assists and Henrik Lundqvist finished with 23 saves for his fifth season-opening victory in nine starts and extended his franchise record for wins to 310.

Jaden Schwartz recorded a goal and an assist while offseason acquisition Paul Stastny overcame a leg injury in the second period to score in the third. Brian Elliott turned aside 22 shots for the Blues.

With the contest tied at 2-2, the Blues attempted to clear their defensive zone, but the puck caromed awkwardly off a stanchion. St. Louis alertly gained control and backhanded a centering feed to Nash, who beat Elliott from the slot to give New York its third lead of the game.

The Rangers drew first blood 4:01 into the opening period as Kreider forced a turnover by St. Louis defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk before Nash's low shot from the slot beat Elliott. After Schwartz chipped home a rebound just 92 seconds into the third, Kreider scored on a breakaway five minutes later to regain the advantage for New York before Stastny deflected a shot by Vladimir Tarasenko at 10:42 to tie it.
