Devils 6, Flyers 4: Dainius Zubrus burned his former team by snapping a tie at 7:13 of the third period and offseason acquisition Mike Cammalleri scored twice as visiting New Jersey overcame squandering an early three-goal lead to win its season opener.

Michael Ryder collected a goal and two assists, Adam Henrique added one of each and Patrik Elias also tallied for the Devils, who have won six of their last seven games in Philadelphia. Jaromir Jagr notched a pair of assists, giving him 1,757 career points and moving him past Hall-of-Famer Steve Yzerman (1,755) for sole possession of sixth place on the NHL's all-time list.

Wayne Simmonds scored twice in a 56-second span late in the second period and added an assist in the third for the Flyers, who fell to 0-2-0 for the third straight season. Captain Claude Giroux and Vincent Lecavalier each added a goal and an assist while defenseman Mark Streit set up a pair of tallies.

Blue-liner Marek Zidlicky, who was playing in his 700th career game, had his brilliant cross-crease pass tapped home by an unmarked Elias 4:16 into the third period to give New Jersey a 4-3 lead. Lecavalier answered just 15 seconds later by converting a 2-on-1 rush before Zubrus - who was drafted by Philadelphia in 1996 - wristed a shot from the right faceoff circle that squeezed past Steve Mason (20 saves), while Cammalleri added an empty-net tally.

Jagr entered the offensive zone on the right wing and ripped a long shot that Cammalleri redirected with his stick past Mason at 5:33 of the second to give the Devils a seemingly comfortable 3-0 advantage. After Giroux scored from above the left circle over 10 minutes later, Simmonds patiently sized up his shot and beat Cory Schneider (35 saves) with 57 seconds left in the session before tapping home Lecavalier's centering feed just before time expired to complete his 14th career two-goal performance.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Jagr trails Hall-of-Famer Marcel Dionne (1,771) by 14 points for fifth place on the all-time list. ... Ryder scored 18 goals last season - with just two coming over his final 36 games. ... Philadelphia D Braydon Coburn sustained a lower-body injury in the team's 2-1 loss at Boston on Wednesday and was a spectator for the first time since March 30, 2013, when he missed 15 games with a separated left shoulder.
