Kings 3, Ducks 1: Defenseman Alec Martinez snapped a tie with 7:53 remaining in the first period and Jonathan Quick made 36 saves as visiting Los Angeles secured a 2-0 lead in its Western Conference second-round series.

Marian Gaborik and Dwight King also scored for the Kings, who look to put a stranglehold on Anaheim when they host Game 3 on Thursday. Anze Kopitar notched an assist to extend his postseason point streak to nine games as Los Angeles registered its sixth consecutive victory and the 100th playoff win in franchise history.

Patrick Maroon netted the lone goal for the Pacific Division-champion Ducks, who went 3-0 at home against Dallas in the first round. Jonas Hiller finished with 14 saves.

Gaborik, who scored the tying goal with seven seconds left in the third period and the winner 12:07 into overtime in Game 1, continued to torment the Ducks by beating Hiller high to the glove side after gaining a step on defenseman Ben Lovejoy on the left wing 34 seconds into the contest. Anaheim cashed in on a power-play chance midway through the first to pull even as Maroon's backhand pass attempt from the left side of the crease caromed off Kings blue-liner Jake Muzzin's skate and past Quick.

Martinez restored the Kings' lead 2:27 later, when his blast from above the left faceoff circle deflected off a sliding Jakob Silfverberg and into the top left corner of the net. King sealed the win with an empty-net goal with 58 seconds remaining in the third while Quick and a defense corps missing two key members due to injuries stood tall as Anaheim outshot Los Angeles 27-9 over the final 40 minutes.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Jeff Schultz made his Kings debut in place of fellow D Robyn Regehr (undisclosed) after spending the entire regular season with Manchester of the American Hockey League. A 2004 first-round pick of Washington, the 28-year-old Schultz appeared in his first NHL playoff game since 2012 with the Capitals. ... Quick made a brilliant save on Ducks RW Devante Smith-Pelly in the first period, stacking his pads to stop a point-blank shot from alone in front with 11:31 left in the session. ... Gaborik leads the league with six goals while Kopitar is first overall with 14 points.
