Canadiens 3, Bruins 1: Max Pacioretty scored for the second straight contest and Carey Price finished with 29 saves as visiting Montreal upended Presidents' Trophy winning-Boston in Game 7 to advance to the Eastern Conference final.

Daniel Briere collected a goal and an assist, Dale Weise also scored and Brendan Gallagher set up a pair of tallies for the Canadiens, who will face the New York Rangers in the next round. Montreal won two of its three meetings with New York during the regular season.

Jarome Iginla scored his team-leading fifth goal for the Bruins, who finished the season with a league-best 117 points - 17 more than the Canadiens.

Montreal put Boston on its heels early as Briere wired a sharp pass from deep in the left faceoff circle to an unmarked Weise, who directed the puck home from the right doorstep 2:18 into the contest to open the scoring. The Canadiens doubled the advantage midway through the second as Bruins center Patrice Bergeron overskated the puck, allowing David Desharnais to set up Pacioretty for a one-timer from the right faceoff dot.

With his team on the power play, Iginla extended his stick to deflect defenseman Torey Krug's wrist shot past Price with 2:02 remaining in the second to halve the deficit. Iginla's tally snapped the Bruins' scoreless streak at 103 minutes, 46 seconds, but Briere essentially sealed the win with 2:53 left in the third as his shot from in close deflected off the right skate of Bruins captain Zdeno Chara and past Vezina Trophy finalist Tuukka Rask (15 saves).

GAME NOTEBOOK: Montreal improved to 6-3 versus Boston in Game 7 showdowns and avenged a loss in the last encounter - a 4-3 overtime setback on April 27, 2011. ...
