Bruins 3, Red Wings 0: Tuukka Rask turned aside 23 shots for his fourth career postseason shutout as visiting Boston secured a 2-1 lead in its Eastern Conference first-round series.

Defenseman Dougie Hamilton and Jordan Caron scored first-period goals to help the top-seeded Bruins win in Detroit for the first time since March 2007. Rask, who has allowed two goals in the three games, made the lead stand up until Patrice Bergeron scored into an empty net with 1:59 to play as Boston reclaimed home-ice advantage.

Jimmy Howard made 31 saves for the Red Wings, who have dropped two in a row following a 1-0 victory in Game 1. Detroit looks to even the series when it hosts the Bruins in Game 4 on Thursday night.

Boston dominated the opening 20 minutes and the pressure paid off on the power play when Hamilton carried the puck from his own end, found a seam and skated into the right circle before beating Howard high to the glove side at 9:00. The Bruins caught Detroit in a line change for their second goal, allowing Shawn Thornton to break free down the right side for a shot that Howard stopped, but Caron swooped in and buried the rebound with 4:12 left in the period.

The Red Wings failed to do much with their first power play midway through the second, but they finally started to put generate sustained pressure in the final five minutes of the period but were unable to dent Rask. The Finnish netminder, who led the league with seven shutouts during the regular season, robbed Justin Abdelkader on a backhander early in the third to keep Detroit off the scoreboard.
