Kings 4, Coyotes 0: Rookie Tanner Pearson, Jeff Carter and Anze Kopitar each recorded a goal and an assist while Jonathan Quick posted his 31st career shutout as host Los Angeles clinched a playoff berth.

Drew Doughty also scored for the Kings, who have won seven of eight. Fellow defenseman Alec Martinez notched a pair of assists and Quick made 17 saves en route to his sixth blanking of the season as Los Angeles solidified its hold on third place in the Pacific Division.

Thomas Greiss turned aside 28 shots in his fifth straight start for the Coyotes, who have scored a total of two goals during their three-game slide (0-2-1). Phoenix remained in ninth place in the Western Conference despite being even in points with Dallas, which occupies the second wild-card spot and has two games in hand.

Los Angeles needed only 80 seconds to get on the board as Pearson took a cross-slot pass from Carter and fired the puck past Greiss from the right faceoff circle. The Kings also struck early in the second period as Doughty buried a wrist shot from the left circle while on the power play at 2:27 to double the lead.

Carter made it 3-0 at 9:10 of the third, beating Greiss between the pads from the left circle during a 2-on-1 rush for his team-leading 27th goal. Kopitar converted a cross-slot pass from Marian Gaborik during a man advantage just 40 seconds later to cap the scoring.
