Stars 7, Predators 3: Ryan Garbutt, Colton Sceviour and defenseman Trevor Daley each recorded a goal and an assist as Dallas extended its home point streak to seven games (6-0-1).

Vernon Fiddler, Alex Chiasson, Valeri Nichushkin and Cody Eakin also scored for the Stars, who climbed within three points of idle Phoenix for the second wild card in the Western Conference. Defenseman Alex Goligoski collected three assists and Kari Lehtonen made 25 saves.

Patric Hornqvist, blue-liner Michael Del Zotto and Eric Nystrom tallied for the Predators, who remained nine points behind the Coyotes with seven games remaining. Pekka Rinne allowed all seven goals while turning aside 22 shots.

Garbutt opened the scoring at 8:03 of the first period and Fiddler beat Rinne from high in the right faceoff circle six minutes later to double the lead. Hornqvist scored from the right hash marks at 2:53 of the second to halve the deficit before Sceviour and Chiasson tallied on tip-ins 3:21 apart to make it 4-1.

Del Zotto beat Lehtonen with a blast from the right point 55 seconds after Chiasson's goal, but Daley answered less than two minutes later to restore the three-goal advantage. After Nystrom got Nashville within two at 1:48 into third, Nichushkin and Eakin scored nine seconds apart to put away the game.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The home team has won each of the first four meetings between the Central Division rivals this season. ... Nashville C Calle Jarnkrok notched an assist, giving him a five-game point streak to begin his NHL career. ... Stars C Tyler Seguin recorded an assist to extend his point streak to 11 contests. The 22-year-old has collected seven goals and 11 assists during the run. ... Nichushkin and Eakin came within two seconds of tying the franchise record for the fastest two goals. Bill Goldsworthy tallied twice in seven seconds against Los Angeles on Nov. 27, 1971 when the franchise was known as the Minnesota North Stars.
